HOW TO TELL A NEWB IN FIRE ARMS

Post by normsutton »

Uses clips instead of mags or magazine
a clip holds bullets and a mag has a follower in it
Uses main springs for recoil spring or hammer spring
clocks and watches have main springs in them , fire arms don't

LOL

not trying to flame anyone

I see Norm! The Mainspring is known as such coz it is the MAIN spring. W/o it the other springs ain't squat. I'm goin' back over 2 my revoler site n do a main/hammer survey..........

Main Entry: main·spring
Pronunciation: 'mAn-"spri[ng]
Function: noun
1 : the chief spring in a mechanism especially of a watch or clock
2 : the chief or most powerful motive, agent, or cause

Norm,

Once again, thanks!!! ;D Maybe we need a glossary on here to help explain things, I know on some boards they have a glossary for newbies, I think it is a good idea and would be helpful for all, maybe someone here could step up to the plate with this, I realize the time involved, but it would be nice to have.

Connotations are a demographic nuance, sometimes indicating unfamiliarity, but not always.

Whew! Those words add up to over 6 bits! Do we get fries with that!

You are absolutely right bzinggg. People learn at home what to call <s>gun</s> firearm parts.
