Welcome...but a word of wisdom from someone who has been there. Now that you have your C&R, shred all your credit cards!

Well got my toy yesterday and looks OK. Some holster wear in the left side and overall looks OK, not excellent. Paid extra ten bucks for hand pick and I guess wasted. However it has some big nicks by the barrel hood that looks that were filed out and not refinish. I hope it does not cause any functional issues. However I noticed right away that the trigger was not engaging when I decocked the hammmer from fire to safe or safe to fire. Flipped from safe to fire and the trigger felt the same way in both positions. Trigger bar was moving fine and trigger spring seems to be fine. The problems is/was that the disconnector was not raising into the slide slot. I did clean one burr from the disconnector and no luck. I did filed some metal out of the botton of the slide were the hammer pinned/raised the metal by the safety were the disconnector goes/rides in (disconector cut out??). I did this few times and reassemble with not luck. However I discovered that by pushing the slide back about 1/16 of an inch I could hear the disconnector click/engage into position in the slide and the trigger would work. I did this a few more times lubed with weapons sheild grease and now seems to work. Safety is very hard to engage also. Any suggestions? I have not loaded any ammo, tested or completely taken apart for a good cleaning. I will post this in the repair section.

Sounds like they're grabbing them from the bottom of the barrel. The $10 hand select is really a joke. They could grab 5 crappy guns and they just send you the "least crappy looking" one... or they just pocket the $10 and don't even bother. That's too bad jaunace. The bottom of the safety is a form of cam that pushes the disconnector down in SAFE, but there is a cutaway in the safety when you move it to FIRE. Shouldn't have to pull it back any amount to get it to engage. When you get some ammo, you may put one in the chamber to see if that will allow the slide to be back enough to allow it to work properly. As for the safety, you may have to take the safety out, clean it all real well. Lightly grease or oil. You can use a dremel tool and lightly remove some of the point off the safety plunger to reduce some of the effort of getting the safety out of the SAFE and FIRE positions.

No I did a quick cleaning, but it worked more than OK today. Will be taken apart soon. I am pasting below my experience today.

Slide soaking on mineral spirits as I write this. Took it to the range today, mag fell out on the firsts shoot. Rookie mistake, apparently was not seated properly. Did not happen again. The trigger problem creepep up once or twice more and I belief is the safety/disconnector issue. Other wise the DA is horrible had to use my two index fingers many times to get it to go off. I will have to order some wolff springs for this beast. SA action is sweet. Shoot 58 rounds of Brown bear and 11 Hornady JHP. All went bang, One time one of the mags did not lock slide back on last round. This gun looks like it was played with a lot, but not shoot a lot. Bore is pristine. Recoil is the WOW scale. Recoil worst than my PA 63 before I chaged the springs with a wolff kit.

Posted from fixes section. Just to follow up.

disassembled the slide and cleaned up some areas with my files and polished the safety plunger and seens to be working a little better. Next time I take the safety out to change the firing pin spring I will polish some more with my dremel. The safety/disconnetor issue seems to have gone away due to the cleaning and polishing of the slide/safety /disconnector. I have the wolff spring set coming, recoil/hammer springs, etc. I will update ASAP, need the parts and some more ammo. The gun did not have any cosmo that I can tell, but the frame and slide turned the mineral spirits gray/black fast after soaking.

If I'm considering paying the handpick fee on a purchase from AIM, I'll post on AIM's AR15 forum (http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_2/217_.html) and ask if it's worth paying the fee. One of the AIM guys will usually respond and give you scoop on condition and recommend either paying the fee or not.

Based on their recommendations, I recently paid the fee on a P64, but not on a Nagant revolver. Both were in excellent condition. I wonder if they mistakenly shipped one to you as if you hadn't paid the fee. I'm sure their Customer Service would have made it right.

Good luck juanace.

I paid the handpick fee at AIM for my P64, but only because I wanted one from 1976 (year I was born). I ended up getting a P64 that not only was from 1976, but was also in excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically - except for the front left side of the slide, there is wear on the edge up there. I don't care about the wear on the slide - the pistol is fantastic! And the wear appears like it's come from storage in the holster.

My holster is in decent shape, but the little flap that closes it has had it's threads start unraveling. I'm going to hit up the local sewing shop and get their suggestions for sewing it back up - thread/needle/etc.

I didn't do a full disassembly, just removed the grips and got things well lubed in there, and thoroughly cleaned everywhere i can reach. Mine hasn't complained or had many issues. I don't mind the heavy DA pull, in fact I consider it a default safety. I usually rack the slide to get it in SA mode anyways.
