Engaging the safety really wouldn't be necessary with the stiff DA trigger.

Its harder to pull the trigger on one of these than on one of my revolvers and they have no safety.

I agree. I think that (the way it was written) the author meant "carried with the hammer down and the Safety [DIS]engaged."
