Are all P-64 parts nterchangeable reguardles of year?

Post by surfzombie »

I know that some of the early models have round hammers and the later one have the triangle hammer but are all the parts interchangeable? Will the safety or the firing pin of say a 68 fit and function on say a 73? Will a round hammer effectively replace a triangle hammer or vis versa?

Glad I searched these as I was about to ask same question! Which hammer would you all suggest for a carry piece? my 1969 has the round!

Some of the CCW folks prefer the round as it reduces another sharp corner to print. I guess it really doesn't matter as the gun has a DA trigger. However, if your DA did fail and you had to use it SA, you could more easily cock the hammer in a situation like that. Oh well, a lot of what ifs.

Personal preference, I guess, but round for me.
I did see someone carrying one with a triangle hammer last week in a local food establishment.
