7/02/2010 delivery from SOG: pics!

Post by tooldawg99 »

It's been about a year since the last time I ordered a P-64...one from J&G, then one from SOG. The J&G delivery was bounced around in a cardboard mailer, with no packing paper at all, just an invoice with the gun. The SOG order was much better packed, and came with extras, so Tuesday (3 days ago) I placed an order with my FFL03 with SOG, with no hand-pick premium, to see what kind of shape these remaining few might be in... cost was $183 delivered.

Imagine my surprise when I open the box to find the best condition p-64 of my collection! A beautifully deep blued 1968 round hammer. Virtually NO holster wear anywhere, and covered in cosmoline. The holster is black, showing some shelf wear but like new, as well as a cleaning tool, spare mag with no numbers etched, and a gun that looks mint. Neither mag has the etched numbers.
Count me as very pleased with SOG. The pics are straight from the box, no cleaning done yet. The grips look rough, but only because of the cosmoline in the grooves. It will clean up and look like brand new.
If you plan on waiting to order using your C&R, take my advice: order now! When I placed my order with SOG and they asked if I wanted hand-pick, I told them I trusted them to pick me out a great one, since I would return it if it wasn't in EXCELLENT condition as the posted in their flyer! They aren't kidding...this is not good or even really good condition... excellent is the right word!

I ordered mine on Tuesday. I usually deal on the phone with my favorite gal Kelly, ext 226, but the phones have been clogged so I ordered via the net. I ordered one on Tuesday 6-29-10. took until today to get a tracking # but it will be here on Wed 7/7/10.
Really looking forward to seeing what I get!
I have always had good luck with SOG!

Just got my two from SOG. Here they are with my old, 1970 IO Inc one.

Oddly, the '68 doesn't cock back nearly as far as the two '70s on a double action pull. It launches a pencil adequately though. Test fire time tomorrow

Got mine today and I wish I would have ordered a couple more. It is a 1973 in fantastic shape. Only defect is the red paint is gone for the safety indication.

Safety dot is an easy fix! Did one myself.

1. Get red fingernail polish, in the red of your choice. I have (3) daughters and a wife, so I had plenty of reds to pick from.

2. Get a toothpick.

3. Dip the toothpick in the red polish and drop it into the safety circle. A little will go a long way! It's a small dot, and not deep!

4. Let dry and you are done!

Leave the paint off, it's more tactical that way. ;)

I ordered mine via the internet over the weekend and mine came out to $192.58. Why was your only $183? lol

Seeing the ones you all are posting is making me consider having them send me 2. really!

I'd say 90% are saying, We all know it's fake; we're playing along. The other 10% are saying, We're ready! And I'd say 10% of that 10% can't wait for it to happen.

They told me there is a surcharge for CCs being used and shipping was a bit over $20 as it is 2day air
