The P-64 is now C&R eligible!
The ATF list has just been updated:

I haven't checked with vendors yet but this is good news for C&R license holders.

Exciting. J&G has them listed as C&R, but SOG doesn't yet. Unfortunately I don't have an account set up with J&G and they don't accept faxed C&Rs.
So, uh, leave some for me, guys.

Yeah, I pulled the trigger and bought 5 more from J&G. I now save $125 on the transfer fee, $50 on the bulk purchase price and a break on shipping per gun basis. Now I need to buy some more Wolf mainsprings and maybe a couple Marschal grips.

Some of us only have one single sad P64, please leave some for the less fortunate...

This is great news! I should have my C&R in a couple of weeks! I sent in the paperwork about 10 days ago.
I have 2 P-64s and won't hesitate to get at least a couple more!

Have fun fellows. One P-64 is all I really need. I have far too many other fine handguns.

SOG is now selling them as C&R guns. You get the extra magazine, cleaning rod and holster. Depending on shipping it may be a slightly better deal.

Went to the local gun shop to see about getting a P64 from SOG. $170 for the gun + $65 for the transfer, shipping, credit card + $20 taxes = ~$255. Is this a reasonable price? Anything I'm missing or somewhere else I should try?

Eric, as Norm pointed out, a C&R 3-year license is only $30. Personally, I would not pay any FFL $65 for a transfer. Get the C&R license or find another FFL holder. That's hiway robber, my friend!
Re: The P-64 is now C&R eligible!
I agree with both Norm and ShinerJohn. The $30 C&R license price is what I pay in MD for one transfer fee for one gun!?! Over the course of three years with buying direct from the seller, not having to drive to my FFL, pay additional fees, filling out gov't forms, etc; I can't afford NOT to get the C&R license!shinerjohn wrote:Eric, as Norm pointed out, a C&R 3-year license is only $30. Also, paying a $65 transfer fee IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY! Very few FFLs in MD dare to charge over $40 and that is too high for me!

Re: The P-64 is now C&R eligible!
you guys didn't read my thing, because i didn't say the transfer was $65. i said the transfer, shipping and credit card (and other filing) fees was $65. the transfer fee itself is only $25. but for the gun shop to buy the gun for me and then transfer it to me, he has every right to make the ~$5 of profit he'll get from it.
and ~$60 just for a transfer is par for the course from where I'm from in california.
but maybe i will have to look into the C&R license thing.

If I break this down right...
$170 - Gun
$5 - Credit Card Fee (3%)
$35 - shipping
$25 - FFL Transfer Fee
$20 - Taxes
---------------
$255 Subtotal
Are you buying the gun from your own state and the seller charges tax? $20 in tax seems kind of high. However, the combined $65 of random fees/shipping seems alright.

The gun is coming from out of state. without at C&R, he buys the gun from SOG and then sells it to me, hence the sales tax, ~$20.
