win you load 6+1 do you chamber 1 from the mag, and refill the mag? kinda hard to get one in through the eject port. just wondering.

I chamber from the magazine and then top the magazine off.

I'll chamber from the magazine and top the magazine off.

Just remember to test this out with your P-64, and with the ammo you plan to carry. Some people recommend against 6+1 due to FTFs, so 6+1 might not work in all P-64s and/or with all ammo brands.

Myself, my '75 feeds 6+1 with Sellier and Bellot FMJ without problems. This was established with a lot of range time, and I trust my particular rig. I also keep checking to make sure this works, so it won't bite me in the rear later.

6+1 can be a low number to begin with, but a FTF can be even worse when you need your P-64 the most...

On many pistols, I've been told you can damage the extractor if you release the slide on a round in the chamber. I don't think it's a huge deal, but why risk it.

The procedure that most people follow is:

1) Chamber from a loaded magazine
2) Remove the magazine
3) Holster the pistol
4) Top off the mag
5) Insert the magazine into the pistol

I haven't carried the P-64 yet since I'm still looking for a holster.

They are all right. I wore out an extractor on a 45 auto by dropping a rd in the chamber each time I loaded. Now I do it like the above members said.

by dropping a round in the chamber, do you mean you pushed a round in through the ejection hole in the slide while it was pulled back?
