Greetings, all! I'm new to this board and to the world of P-64's.
I just took my newly acquired P-64 9 (manufacture date 1971) to the range for the first time today. The good news was that it was remarkably accurate when firing in single action mode. The bad news - I could not get the hammer to come back and fall when attempting to shoot in double action mode. When pulling the trigger, the hammer would move back ever so slightly and then I would hear an internal clicking sound. So, do I have a defective pistol, or am I just doing something ridiculously wrong, perhaps with reassembly after field stripping and cleaning. By the way, when a round isn't in the chamber, the hammer pulls back and falls normally on double action.
Thanks for your help in solving this "mystery"!

I had the same problem. The original spring was broken when I bought it locally. Purchased a replacement spring from Norm and using his instructions replaced the sucker in under fifteen minutes.
