I was looking at just buying brass, but with starline brass running around $25 per 100 after shipping and everything, trimming 9mm brass is well worth the effort for me. It took about an hour to trim the 150 or so that I have done. The Lee trimmer and a cordless drill work great. In fact, I went and bought one for .223 cause I liked it so much.

It's nice to have the option of creating 9x18 cases from 9x19.
9x19 brass is everywhere and free.
I have a Lyman bench mounted, hand cranked trimmer. Maybe time to power it up.

impackin,
Get a Lyman reloading manual. The reference and loading sections are excellent. You won't have many questions if you have this book.

Thanks Norm.
That trimmer set up is just what I was thinking. I'll have to make a trimmer shaft soon.

OK I am back.
I have almost everything I need. I will be loading 9mm and 9X18 Makarov. My question is; if I use 9mm brass and trim it to 9X18, can I also use or resize the 9mm bullet

Hi all,

The Lee setup I got came with a shank to fit a power drill. This setup goes fast.

Trim the 9mm Parabellem with the .350 pilot before you size the case to .363 and you won't need a 9mm Mak pilot. After it is once trimmed, it should never need it again unless you are shooting magnum loads and even then small pistol brass doesn't elongate much. You only need the commonly availabel 9mm Parabellem pilot that way.

Success!!!
I was able to mold some bullets. This was the third batch. The first two did not come out so well.

My buddy found me a Lyman Luber sizer at a yard sale. It works good. I got them all lubed and sized. I had to modify the top punch. I bought one for a .380RN but it was leaving smiles. I filled the cavity up with JB weld and stuck the tip of a greased bullet in it. I let it dry and popped the bullet out. Now it works great.
Image
Then I loaded them up on the Dillon. I went with the Lee dies. They work fine. I do not like the lock rings either.

This has to be the cheapest ammo out there.
For 100 rounds
Lead was about $1.25
Primers $2.25
Powder (3.4g 231) $0.93
Brass Free!!!!
Lube Not much

Total for 100 rounds $4.43
Total for box of 50 $2.22

Don't ask me how long it took. :)

buggyboat,
Nice job.
I like your method of fitting the top punch to the bullet with JB weld. I've been doing the same thing for 2 decades and it works perfect.
I use a Dillon 550 with Lee dies and also agree the lock rings with the rubber o-rings are a pain.
Judging from the swaged area on the bullets, they look pretty small diameter. See how they shoot. If you would like a few to try sized to .366, I'll send you some.

I went with the 0.363" sizer die. I think it was Norm that mentioned he did not have any issues with it in his guns. I am not sure when I will get to try these out, but I will keep ya posted.

I received 1000 93gn cast lead 9mm Mak bullets from King Shooters Supply on Saturday. I received four 25# bags of #9 shot on Friday. It was all shipped via USPS Flat Rate Priority. My mail carrier is not happy with my mail order habits.
I am going to reload 9mm Mak in re-sized 9mm Luger brass for the first time. I have been told to use a light load the first time until the cases are fire sized in the pistol. There is not much info on loading cast lead 9mm Mak available so I am going to start with a .380acp load I use. Anyone have any suggestions or info I could use?
