Why can't I find Silver Bear JHP's

Post by doyle »

I'm out of ammo and none of the normal on-line dealers seem to stock Silver Bear hollow points any more. In fact, the only hollow points at all I'm seeing are Hornady. I like the Hornady loads, but I don't feel like taking out a mortgage to build my supply back up.

According to Lala Gabbert at the ammunition center it is no longer being made. Check some of the millsurp out lets though, I think I saw some last week for sale but for the life of me I can't remember where.

Try here:

http://www.floridagunworks.com/Merchant2....Code=A+PA+9 X18

May not be any good. Their site looks like it's pretty old. May not have been updated for a while. Good luck.

I've seen some not so good posts about FGW and that is also 115gr ammo which would be pretty hefty for our CZAK's. Would be ok in the MAKs if you change to 21# recoils. Still may have feed problems though.

Looks like they have some issues listed with the BBB in Florida and the state is requesting information regarding complaints.
I'm satisfied with the Brown Bear ammo that I'm currently using and have about three hundred rounds Silver Bear JHP that I haven't used up yet. I don't think I'll be shooting any 115gr. ammo in any of my 9x18's in the near future. As good a guns as they are they are still pushing forty years old and I'd like to keep them as nice as they are. Still planing on picking up a CZ 82, who knows maybe then?
By the way, where can you order 115gr. 9x18 ammo anyway?

G.R.

there is no 9x18 pistol designed to shoot over a 95 grn bullet, shoot at your own risk, and I far as I know they aren't making any more over a 95 grn bullet any more

Trent, everybody has plenty of FMJ's. I'm wondering why nobody but Hornady is still making JHP's.
