New Supply of P64 and P83

Post by mecenas »

Apparently the Polish police will get 22000 new Walther P 99 pistols by the end of 2008 to replace the aging P 64 and P 83.
That means that by the spring 2009 someone will likely get their hands on a substantial number of these and import them to the US.
Good news for those who are waiting - not so good for those who thought these to be a good investment.

I think it is great for both, any gun that I have ever thought highly enough to buy and spend time and energy with has been an investment. For what our little time is worth would we waste it on anything less than an investment.

That is good news, can't wait to get my hands on a reasonably priced 83.

Will these make it to the market? The UN will do their part to prevent this from happening. What is the political climate in Poland now?

I just read an article about Pakistan, that said they were buying up alot of Polish weapons that were left over from some upgrading. this may be a detour. G

Political climate in Poland has nothing to do whatsoever with selling their surplus guns to the highest bidder. You must know that the companies that deal in arms in Poland are owned, at least at 51% level by the government of Poland. That means that pnce the new pistols (Glocks and Walthers P99) are pushed into service, their P 64s and P 83s will go back to the storage warehouses and from there is just a matter of money to find their way to a commercial market. The problem always was a high price that these guys want for their surplus, useless guns. They (meaning the government distributors) think that there are no better guns anywhere in the world.....and that is sometimes funny.
