Excellent choice of quotes from an Excellent Man. He was a true inspiration to his countrymen and an eloquent speaker. One of my favorite Samuel Adams quotes is below. It was in a speech he made after the Botson Massacre, attempting to rally support for the revolution. The use of the language and the images evoked in this short quote are truly remarkable.

“Contemplate the mangled bodies of your countrymen, and then say 'what should be the reward of such sacrifices?' Bid us and our posterity bow the knee, supplicate the friendship and plough, and sow, and reap, to glut the avarice of the men who have let loose on us the dogs of war to riot in our blood and hunt us from the face of the earth? If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen

Why is it that the politicians of today can't profit from the wisdom of our forefathers, they truly were great men.

Perhaps he refers to Shrillary.

Think of it this way, "wealth v.s. opulance". A man born to wealth has a hard time relating to the man who must work daily just to put bread on the table.

Our forefathers were fighting for their rights and their freedom. Todays politicians are worried about campaign dollars and supporting their big contributors.

because we've made politician into a full time job. it wasn't when the country was founded.

perhaps if they weren't offered pay for their laziness, and rather, they were paid on a performance based rate, they'd only take the job in the interest of "Helping". I have always felt that the politicians should not get paid(i know that is unrealistic),but, WE don't get paid when WE go out to get votes for petitions, or to drum up votes for a cause. (isn't that what the "elected" get paid for?) Politicians do less than That, and accept pay for it. we pay them salaries, and then we go do their jobs for them ,to boot ! pfffffft. "Money is the root of all evil." lol G
