Re: Could not pass up another P64!
Finally figured out how to get a down-sized photo of the new and old P64. A new laptop complicated things for me as well. I try to keep up with computer stuff, but at 65 it's challenging. I'll take a screwdriver over a keyboard any day. The black gripped one is the newly repaired de-cocker $119 spec...

Re: P64 me
Congrats on your choice of the P64. You will not be sorry. I purchased two P64's from SOG and was very happy with them. I have purchased other C&R rifles from JG and was also very pleased. Classic sent me 2 very rough Mosin Nagants that were supposed to be hand-picked. They censor negative comme...

Re: weapons used in self defense
Every issue of "The American Rifleman" has a page dedicated to news articles of self-defense. It is called "The Armed Citizen": Good reading and only a part of what happens in the real world. The subscription to the magazine alone is worth the NRA dues.

If it gets easier, it's because of this.

Re: Looking for grips
The thought of spraying my original grips with some rubberized paint has crossed my mind. I saw that someone on ebay does a service that paints your grips. A peel and stick sheet is also available on ebay. I have an old can of Permatex undercoating out at my trailer (100 miles away) that might work....

Re: Looked at a Taurus PT111
I also own a Rossi 357 snubbie. My wife likes to shoot it (with 38's) and calls it her own. She (and I) probably would prefer the PT111 if I did bring one home. I think my walk away was more due to the dealer/trigger problem. The sharp point sticking out of the lower left corner of the right side gr...

heavy safety lever fixed
Thanks to this board, my safety lever no longer takes both hands to operate. I got my tiny harbor freight dremel-like tool out and smoothed out the ramps for the detent. I took my time and did it 3 times, taking small amounts off until it felt just about right. A touch on the tip of the detent and i...

Looked at a Taurus PT111
I had read a number of positive reviews, so I looked at the PT111 G2 Taurus yesterday. The size and my hand fit was quite appealing. It felt light and the sights were pretty nice. I was not allowed to try the trigger, as the store rules insisted the gun had a trigger lock on it. I tried 2 different ...

Re: Could not pass up another P64!
Went to the 50 yard range today with the primary reason to sight in my AR. That went splendidly, so I broke out the newly repaired P-64. I tested the de-cocker multiple times with a round in the chamber. It all worked just fine. I was concerned that it might fire when de-cocking, but my fears were u...

Re: Could not pass up another P64!
I had ordered a new sear, 2 dis-connectors and a late model hammer(for my older P64) from the gentleman in Poland on Gunbroker. The parts arrived yesterday, 4 weeks from the order date. The shipping was only $5 and his sale prices were very reasonable. If you can wait the transit time, I can recomme...

Cheap shoulder holster on ebay
I thought $8.99 was a worthwhile gamble. It ain't bad at all, especially at the price. Wore it all day yesterday and after a few adjustments it kind of disappeared to me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHOULDER-PISTOL-GUN-HOLSTER-Makarov-Walther-PPK-Bersa-PA-63-P-64-Carpati-/191737980000?hash=item2ca479646...

Re: Who carry's 2 P-64's?
Not exactly PC, but a good choice for Paris type defense would be an IWI Jericho with a piece of bacon in the hollow point. Shame on me!

Re: Could not pass up another P64!
After some research, I found someone else with this same problem. He had me closely examine the dis-connector. It shows some grinding marks on the edges. A small amount of material was removed. A replacement will be ordered. The 18 lb. hammer spring worked great. The 22 lb. recoil spring would not l...

Re: Could not pass up another P64!
So I take down the P64 with much confidence thanks to video by Junius. I even got it cleaned and put back together in less than an hour. Every thing looked okay and went back together with no drama. But the de-cocker still fails to function. That will wait for another day since I don't want to get t...

Re: Could not pass up another P64!
Started to tinker today. Took the safety out and cleaned up all the oily stuff in there. Did a light lube and the safety lever is easier, but not there yet. Switched slide assembly with my other P64 and the new one still won't de-cock. The old P64 with the new slide will de-cock. My deductive reason...
