It's Here, It's Here!

I've already started working on a set of walnut grips for it. I had a spare piece laying around and cut it into a black last night. I think it might be tricking with the way it fits. It's going to take a while I think to get it fitted right. Making grips is liable to be a major challenge. Denis, in...

How long for the callous to form on my trigger finger where the trigger guard digs in? ;)

I don't think we really know these people might know http://www.opisybroni.republika.pl/
Interesting site. It says that many Polish soldiers didn't like the P-64 and continued to use their older pistols. Maybe that's why there are so many mint P-64s in the US.

Best Source for Makarov Ammo?

I thought maybe everyone could share what they use and where they buy it. I'm a big fan of bulk ammo. I use Wolf ammo in my .45 and my .223 rifle. Sure it's dirty and nasty and I have to clean it really well, but for just plain fun range plinking, it's the way to go. But now that I'm getting this P...

Brand new P-64 magazines?

I have read here that the original mags have a metal follower and some of the clones have a plastic one. Most have had little trouble with either but one poster mentioned some trouble he associated with the plastic follower....possibly. He never got back, that I saw, to confirm. The new ones I got ...

Brand new P-64 magazines?

blacktop wrote:I've seen that a couple of places have brand new P-64 magazines listed for sale. Has anyone bought any of these and given them a try?
I may not have put 100s of rounds thru them, but they have performed like the originals for me.

another newb with ?s

I decided to email Dennis, and place the order once I hear back. He hasn't posted since early September, so I want to be sure he's still in business before ordering. I gather that this is a sideline for him. Sometimes life gets in the way. Hopefully I'll hear back from him soon! You can order strai...

Pawn shop score - mags

My '64 came with just the one mag in the gun and no spare... Does anyone have any feedback or purchased a mag from this site? http://www.keepshooting.com/firearmaccessories/magazines/polish_makarov_mag.htm Any reports on quality/reliability would be enormously appreciated! The ones I got from them ...

Harsh recoil

Hi guys. :) I haven't had a day above 25 degrees to try my new P-64 yet, :'( so I speak as a newbie. Do we know why the P-64 has so much more recoil than a Makarov? I compared both guns and the P-64 is a little smaller and lighter, but is that all it takes to multiply the recoil? I have read horror...

Finally a member of the club - got me 2!

Well, I'm finally a member of the P-64 club, so to speak - I picked up my two P-64s from my FFL today. Got me a '69 and a '73 from MCS so I could have both types of hammers. When my wife asked me why I bought two I told her I got free shipping that way! As far as I can tell, they are like new. I'll...

Thinking about buying a P64.

I am also waiting for the day to get my first P64 and have been drooling over the J&G listing for a good long while, along with the gunbroker auctions. Glad I found this place. It seems that I have heard nothing but negative things about this gun. Also check out http://mcsfirearms.com/ . You ca...

This is amazing;)

It is small, uncomfortable in using, it has only 12 cartridges. And I could write and write about defects of this gun in day-to-day usage. What defects are you referring to? My trigger finger took a beating today firing my P-64s, but that's the price you pay for firing a small, fairly powerful pist...

papabear wrote:+1 with gunnyrabbit, I haven't found a need to change the springs, because I carry 6+1 with the safety off, the somewhat heavy DA for me acts as a safety, I treat it the same as a revolver.
I agree 100%. I kind of like the idea of the heavy DA. I have only fired mine SA.
