Re: Slide problem
I replicated how mine got stuck before. Does it look like this? http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/potpotpics/forum%20uploads/B405EDDD-71AA-4982-BE78-0CB85D40AE18_zpsigl43795.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/potpotpics/forum%20uploads/F16F6328-5DE1-4BD9-8997-3898FA50743B_zpsdnf0dvy...

Re: Slide problem
The slide's front edge is probably stuck/wedge at the frames front edge by the muzzle, happened to me before, I had to use a small screw driver and pried it out.

Re: Underwood ammo, Hornady ammo
Marty, let me guess, that instructor over at the other forum uses a glock? Regardless of the firearm type one gets, training is key. Those 1911 guys who carry cocked & lock, wouldn't be carrying condition one unless they're confident that the sequence of operation is engrained in their head. Sam...

Re: My P64 HiViz front sight mod
Just to update the thread. I used JB Weld this time to stick the front sight. Applied it just a tad at the base, and once pressed in, I used a toothpick to spread the excess that seeped out evenly around the sides. Shot 118 rounds of handloads, and the sight stayed put as I had hoped it would.

Re: My P64 HiViz front sight mod
I'm gonna laugh when the sharpie rubs off, exposing your true (pink) colors! Interesting mod. LOL! actually the pinkish color turned kinda milky white after being filed. The sharpie actually rubbed off the first time I tried to holster the pistol. But after re-applying several coats and grinding of...

Glad you had a blast (pun intended) with your P64, Marty. If you're up to it, you can make your own hi-viz sight - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5646
I just switch from Permatex to JBWeld, cant wait to try it again.

Re: Can't replace the slide to the frame
Make sure the slide stop lever is in its proper position. As long as you're using the same recoil spring, then this is the only part that will keep the slide from going all the way back and in the frame if it's not in proper spot.

Re: Single action not working
Well tech 1, since you just got the pistol, you might as well return it and ask for replacement, or let them fix it. It could be a number of things, worn our sear or the notch on the hammer that locks it on SA or something else. Parts may be hard to find and may take time to get to you, if you find ...

Re: Replacement Wolff Recol Springs
I dont think those new springs will be broken in in with just a few hundred rounds. I'm close to shooting 500 rounds on mine and the recoil spring is still much stiffer than the original one. But quite frankly, I dont notice any difference when I tried shooting the pistol using both factory and the ...

Re: 1974 P-64 - Middle safety position
Marty, did you push and lock the firing pin all the way in, or far enough forward then locked in place with the forceps? If so, turn the safety level halfway between fire and safe, this will get the detent out of the locking hole area. You can then wiggle it out, you can also use a small flat tool, ...

Re: Replacement Wolff Recol Springs
Marty, I also use the 18/22 lbs springs , and is happy with it. You may have notice that on single action or if the hammer is cocked, the trigger pull is very light, so be careful. You may want to try it out first before puttng the 17 lbs spring. There has been some report of mags dropping out of th...

Re: 1974 P-64 - Middle safety position
Marty, in my case, I didn't wait for the stiff decocker to get smoothen out from use. I dont CCW it (yet), so I dont keep the gun with one in the chamber and decock it everytime. If you disassemble the decocker assembly (guide - http://www.p64resource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4200 ), you wi...

Re: My P64 HiViz front sight mod
Well, happy to inform your guys that the sight works just great. I still do have issues with my shots hitting left, so I figured this is shooter error, but Im happy with the way it works. Re: 1974 P-64 - Middle safety position
I had this issue before. Mine was a 1976, when I functioned check it with a full mag, hammer cocked, safety engaged, the hammer block goes up but the hammer stays cocked and wouldn't fall even if you pull the trigger. Its like a 1911. release the safety and the hammer falls when trigger is pulled. I...

Re: My P64 HiViz front sight mod
Thanks Ketchman. Yes, its just glued on. I used the 60 second epoxy by Permatex, I wanted to use JB weld, but I was concerned that if I mess up, I might not be able to take it out without destroying the base, its the only bead I found. No I did not do anything on the rear notch. I used the 0.60"...
