9x18 shortage???

nbender; yeah, every empty American Eagle case was bulged. Though they werent grossly bulged like some of the cases that Ivs seen come out of Glocks, but they were bulged enough that I wont feel comfortable reloading them. Here are some external case diameters from a sample of ammo and empty cases I...

9x18 shortage???

That MFS ammo from Widener's is marked +P......Is +P ammo safe to shoot in the 64? As I understand there is not a SAAMI standard pressure level for 9x18 mak, only mil. spec. pressures. Mil. spec. ammo is generally hotter than SAAMI loads anyway, so...is the MFS ammo hotter than mil. ammo? I dont lik...

Lightening a P64

You could do that...and hack up a perfectly good gun, or you could just get a Hungarian F.E.G. PA-63. They are Makarov/PPK clones chambered in 9x18mm like the P-64, only they have an aluminum alloy frame. You can find them for just as cheap as you can a P-64 also. Its just a thought, but it would se...

P64 spring questions

I got to the range today to try out my new recoil spring in my '72. I fired Hornady 95 gr. XTP's, American Eagle 95 gr. FMJ's, Wolf 100 gr. FMJ's and Silver Bear 115 gr. HP's. With the factory spring, the 100 gr. loads would have been the heaviest I could shoot with minimal "trigger guard slap....

firing not reaching cartrige

Ive never had a problem with wolf ammo, or any other kind of ammo for that matter. Grinder, have you removed the firing pin? There may be a bur in the firing pin channel, or on the pin itself, that by simply spraying brake cleaner through won't remove. The firing pin could also just be to short (may...

P64 spring questions

So, I got the HK 25# spring and the Walther 20# spring. I just did the recoil spring mod and noticed the gun makes lots of noise when I rack the slide from the spring rubbing the inside of the slide. Did you guys open up the inside of the slide any to remedy this problem, or do you just keep it lube...

We made GOOGLE!

I was looking around on the forum today, reading about the wood grips that himmel makes. I got done reading the thread so I scrolled to the top of the page and saw that a link to the F@#&ing brady campaign's website was in the google ad bar. I realize its a random rotation of links by google, it...

P64 spring questions

I had a thought today about the straight blow-back design of the p64. I was wondering if anyone had tried cutting a shallow grove or two (or three) around the inside diameter of the chamber converting it from straight blow-back to delayed blow-back. This would significantly reduce the speed of the s...

FYI Grip Screws!!!!!

Yes, I agree that would look better, but these were produced as military and police handguns and I don't think looks were a big issue at the Radom factory. I don't think there was a grip escutcheon or whatever you call the inserts which sometimes adorn grip screws, but I may be wrong. I always thou...

FYI Grip Screws!!!!!

Sorry to change the subject slightly...but it always seemed to me that there should be some kind of grip screw cover that fits in the recessed area on the grips. Does anyone know if there was and what happend to them? If I still had access to a lathe I could turn out some custom screw covers and eng...

Safety dropping on while shooting

BTW both the plunger and the firingpin spring went sailing across the room; the plunger miraculously landed at my feet, but the FP spring bounced of the ceiling, the wall, my table and somehow (after I turned the room upside down) I found it UNDERNEATH my couch.
