Re: Red boolits
Powder coating is applied as a lube. I normally use Alox and more recently an Alox/Johnsons floor wax combo. The Alox works very well: no leading whatsoever, but it does create more smoke and gums up my seating die somewhat. The powder coating is supposed to be good for higher velocity cast bullets ...

Red boolits
My first attempt with powder coated cast from the Lee mold. Tumbled in a plastic peanut butter jar, baked @350 degrees for 15 minutes on a foiled cookie sheet. It took 2 coats to get what I consider a satisfactory coating. I have yet to shoot them. I did flare them a bit more than usual. The Lee fac...

New (to me) bullet lube
I read about a recipe of 60% Alox/40% Johnson liquid floor polish. I have been using Alox on all my lead reloads and have never seen any leading. My only complaints were excess smoking and gumming up my seating dies. Neither problem is enough to make me stop using it. As of right now, I have not sho...

Re: Tame the little beast
Fingerless biker gloves would be good. Available at any motorcycle shop. Some have a gel pad in the palm to quell vibration (like an older Sportster).
I find the P64 to be very economical to shoot. Two or three mags to stay proficient and I'm done.

Ruger 22/45 Love/Hate
A trip to the range yesterday with my brother and a buddy. We shot 2 of my P64's, my Yugo Tok, My new Pt111 Taurus, an old Taurus 38 revolver and a Ruger 22/45. We all liked the new Taurus very much. I believe my 2 guests are now going to get one when they get back in stock. All weapons fired withou...

W650 ! Cool bike. My penchant for Brit bikes makes this Kaw a real favorite. All the pleasantries of a Bonneville with none of the vices. Go take a ride for me.

Re: Check out the Vid
Mine did NOT have a 3rd position for the hammer before or after I replaced the dis-connector and sear. I just wonder if these were done intentionally or this is a normal wear pattern. I don't see much wear on my pistol, leaving me to think this was an intentional modification. The old dis-connector ...

Re: Check out the Vid
I searched and found this video right after I bought my 2nd P64 with the same non-functioning de-cocker. As I said in a previous post, replacing the dis-connector returned all to normal function. I put in a new sear as long as I was there. I have since polished up the safety lever and detent. This o...

Re: Looked at a Taurus PT111
A two hour wait at 2 different ranges yesterday cancelled my shooting for Thursday. Today was only 20 minutes, so I hung around. The PT111 G2 worked perfectly with about 150 rounds of 4 different types sent downrange. I think the magazines needed to be broken in more than anything else. The Uplula l...

Re: Looked at a Taurus PT111
I picked up my Uplula today. What a breeze to load all 12 rounds! This item should have been in my range bag years ago. All my old single stack magazines were okay to load by hand, so I didn't really need a loader. I will use this loader with all my magazines. Truly a great invention! No range time ...

Re: Looked at a Taurus PT111
I did not go to the range yesterday as was planned. It was below zero most of the day and my breathing is bad enough when warm. Besides, the Uplula has not arrived yet. My bleeding fingers have healed and I don't want to cut them up again. I used to laugh at my Dad when he regularly cut himself when...

Re: Looked at a Taurus PT111
I do have some neon pink nail polish. I use it on my shortened Luger 9mm brass converted to Mak. I can just imagine the look on the face of a friend when he sees pink, green and orange neon nail polish on my reloading table.

Re: Looked at a Taurus PT111
Yep, the same spot on the right side grip had a sharp protuberance just like the others I tried. I used a nail trimmer to clip off the offending little dagger and all is well. The long trigger was a bit annoying at first. The more I shot it, the annoyance seemed to disappear. The range I went to has...

Re: Looked at a Taurus PT111
I got my PT111 G2 yesterday. I did a clean and lube then went to the range today. Holy smoke! Those magazines are hard to load. Granted, this is the first modern double stack weapon I ever owned. I am going to Cabela's tomorrow for an Uplula loader. I took the magazines down and cleaned and lubed th...
