Re: 1971 makarov
And you realize, of course, that a P64 is merely one of several pistols chambered to fire the 9X18 Makarov round. It is not "a Makarov". That name is correctly applied only to the Pistolet Makarova. And yet everyone knew exactly what was being discussed. Please, let's not got there. This ...

Re: double action pull weight
One way to achieve this would be to obtain a progressive rate spring, or to cut several coils off the 17/18lb spring, put a washer on there (just larger than the coils, but with a hole just large enough for the strut to pass through), and put a few coils on from a stiffer spring, making your own pr...

Re: putting a rail on my p-64
Haven't thought about putting a rail on my P-64. If I did I think I would contact this company as I have been very happy with their magnetic mount on my Tok. They don't list a mount for the P-64 but I bet they might if enough interest existed. http://www.arietearms.com/Tokarev.html Brilliant! Peace...

Welcome to the forum. You can reload and save money. :hi: I've run the numbers, unless you make less than minimum wage at your job, there is absolutely no way you actually save money. In general, I agree with the sentiment. However, there may be some mitigating factors you have to figure in. Your m...

I just tried my hand at Rust Bluing with exceptional results. There should be a thread about it around here somewhere.

Re: double action trigger pull.
I guess I should have said slide spring. Why replace it? Reduce recoil? Yes. Also, a worn recoil spring won't bleed off enough energy and the heavier recoil can, over time, batter your firearm and cause quicker wear and breakage. I have heard an interesting theory which suggests that a heavier recoi...

Re: P-64 not chambering
Might also check/clean/oil the breech face and make sure that nothing has obstructed the extractor claw. Might also check that the firing pin is fully retracting so that the rear of the cartridge isn't catching on a protruding firing pin. While I don't think it's likely, this could cause issues simi...

Re: my 9x18s
PA-63: Whew--the DA pull is terrible--need some Wolff springs for this one I suppose. Also, easily the least pleasant recoil of the bunch. Easily. My opinion: If the P-64 was the best made of the bunch--this would be the roughest. Still a cool gun though. I'll do the springs and cold blue the slide...

Re: my 9x18s
Still can't decide if I want a PA-63 or not. There seem to be mixed reviews. Maybe a second vz.82 would be in order. You want one. There's nothing wrong with one that can't be fixed in much the same way that there's nothing wrong with the P64 that can't be fixed. The trigger pull is a bit heavy, ju...

Re: Installing Marschal Grips on a CZ82
This may have been covered elsewhere, although my "search" yielded nothing. It seems that I read somewhere that Marschal grips tend to crack if you overtighten the screws. The poster suggested placing small rubber o-rings between the grip and the frame (as I understood it) at each screw h...

Do you have another Makarov chambered firearm? If so, will the PPU chamber in it?Donzi wrote:Yes, it's 9x18mm.
Another "I hate to ask" but is the barrel a .380ACP bbl, swapped out for the original 9x18?

I hate to say it, but are you SURE that it's 9x18 Makarov ammunition?
Check the base stamps.

That's why the "electoless nickel plate" has become so popular. No copper sub-plate. Direct bonding to the steel.normsutton wrote:nickel can peel off
