Re: P-64 Achilles heel?
Devil's advocate: The mass of the firing pin, distance of travel of firing pin, and strength/weight of the spring are all important factors which determine at what velocity a falling gun might discharge. If all of these factors were equal, lighter overall weight of a gun would actually make a drop-f...

Yeah, thanks. You quoted me too fast, though. I always find something to edit for a good 5 minutes after a post.
Anyway, why do people quote the entire previous mesage? I always just use a "^^" at the beginning, when responding to the preceding message, in particular!

Re: Buffalo Wild Wings bans CC
At places like Whole Foods, it doesn't appear that you'll need any say anything, at all. If "outed," I should expect every worker in the place to kneel before you and ask you what they can do for you, followed with a "have a nice day." Oh, hold on. Reality just set it. They would...

Re: SOG vs J&G P-64s
Ok, neat. I'm a little disappointed to hear that, though. I figured this was a freak result of unique storage chemicals and specific temperatures and humidity over 4 decades. :) It looks nice, for sure. But every time I pick it up I think about this: https://iquestionauthority.wordpress.com/2010/02/...

Re: SOG vs J&G P-64s
Heads up on J&G P-64's finish: I just bought mine from J&G. The finish was very dark and uniform with just a tiny hint of holster wear near the muzzle end of the slide. The slide is smooth and shiny, everywhere, with no signs of pitting or machine marks. Just one small scratch and a tiny din...

Re: P-64 Achilles heel?
the gun has a firing pin spring in it Most all guns with a firing pin have a spring, including the 1911. Army testing showed the early models could fire if dropped from as little as 3 feet (if the gun landed exactly muzzle down onto solid concrete.) That's when Colt and many others started added pa...

Re: P-64 Achilles heel?
Nice! Can't wait to see your handiwork! As for safety issue, I'm not seeing any passive firing pin safety when the hammer is down and safety is off. I'm thinking of drop-safety, where the gun might land muzzle-first onto a hard object. If I'm not mistaken, the inertia of the firing pin might cause a...

Re: P-64 Achilles heel?
^^ Sorry, papabear. This is all news to me. If there's a link to an existing thread, I'd like to read it. Or perhaps a specific search term could be of help? Maybe "P-64 sux?" :) normsutten: thanks! I just ordered one. You're AWESOME. I really like the low shipping price. I am curious, do ...

P-64 Achilles heel?
I just bought my first P64 a couple days ago. I'm rather fond of my PA-63 (and the cost of Mak ammo!), so I figured this purchase was a no brainer. But I gotta say I am pretty annoyed with the design of this pistol. It is NOTHING like the Walther or the PA-63, and IMHO is a far worse design. First o...

Re: How to replace the trigger return spring?
It's definitely not a grip screw washer. It is a machined part of what appears to be blued carbon steel, and it's shaped like a bearing/bushing. It's a bit thicker than a washer and it's not completely 2 dimensional. It's thinner on the inside edge around the hole, as compared to the outside. I trie...

Re: How to replace the trigger return spring?
Nice, thanks!
I got everything back together, minus 1 part. It looks like a small washer/bearing about the right size to go over the grip screw, but it doesn't seem to belong there.
It doesn't seem to be on the parts diagram, either!

Mystery? Number stamped on back of frame?
I noticed there's a 5 digit number stamped on the back of the frame, underneath the hammer strut/spring. It's not the serial number. What gives? Is this a lottery ticket to the Polish Super Lotto?

How to replace the trigger return spring?
Hey peeps, Long time no see. I joined up when I made some mods to my PA-63 awhile back. Well, I just bought my first P-64 and the trigger return spring is really @$#@# me off. Is there a good detail strip guide somewhere? Or at least is there any wisdom pertaining to the trigger return spring that a...

PA-63 safety replacement??
Thanks for the input. I assure you, I cleaned it out very thoroughly when modding it. I used q-tips and a toothbrush. I even pulled a bit of cloth through the firing pin hole a few times with forceps. Then I put one drop of oil down and spread it around the channel, and wiped an oiled cloth over the...

PA-63 safety replacement??
Hello. I just found this forum and I hope to share my enthusiasm and learn some new things about the FEG PA63 pistol. As for the safety, I have found that reshaping with a Dremel tool and carbide cutter can provide some nice results. I also used the carbide cutting bit to round off the edges of the ...
