Re: Paint Scrape!

Most of the red paint came off of my P-64 while I was removing the cosmoline on the initial cleaning. No scraping from the safety, just poor paint adhesion to the metal. I had used near boiling water to get all of the gunk off, and the paint came off while wiping it with a rag.

Re: Safety catch broke

I took my daughter and son to the range today to shoot some pistols and my P-64 was among them. When I got home I cleaned the pistols and noticed marks on my P-64 where the extractor is hitting the outside edge of the barrel similar to those in your "before" picture. They were not nearly a...

Re: Safety catch broke

The detent pin may have been sticky from cosmoline. When I got mine, the first thing I did was a complete disassembly and cleaning. I too, had to pull the detent pin out of the slide. Once I cleaned the parts completely, it went back in without a problem and moves freely. I did notice a change in th...

Re: Safety catch broke

Looks like the safety was getting the snot beat out of it, too! I would like to know what caused all of the chipping to your gun. Also, did the damage only show up after last time you fired the gun, or has it been doing that all along?

Re: J&G sales and Classic firearms feedback

Got my P-64 from Classic, paid for "hand select" and got a pistol that looked like it was brand new! It was my first C&R purchase, so I am very pleased with them.

Re: Graco Pistol Brass Catcher

My intention is to have my dad reload them for me. That is why I bought ammo with brass cases. On my first range trip with this pistol, I only recovered 14 out of 50 so the catcher was necessary. I looked at quite a few stand alone catchers but wanted something compact. This does the job well. My da...

Re: Graco Pistol Brass Catcher

It took me a few minutes to get it in a position where it did not interfere with my sights, but I really did not even feel it when firing. I saw some reviews that complained of some sharp edges on the plastic piece that is on the back side of your hand. The corners were very pointy so I used a file ...

Graco Pistol Brass Catcher

I tested this out at the range this morning, too. First, I used a safety pin to get the elastic strap to the right size for my hand. I also bent the wire framing to line up better with the ejection port on the P-64. The results were quite impressive. Shooting right handed, it caught 49 out of 50 and...

Red Army Elite 9x18 Mak - Range Report

This morning I put 100 rounds of this through my P-64 with the following results. Almost every round keyholed at 25 feet! I also had 6 rounds that did not fire the first time I squeezed the trigger. Cocking the hammer and firing again did not work either. All 6 rounds did fire after being reinserted...

Re: Slide very difficult to reinstall

I would suggest you take another look at the recoil spring. If you put it on backwards, the slide will be very difficult to install.
The smaller end goes to the rear of the weapon.

Re: Don't change the springs.

After careful examination of the mechanism on my 1970 P-64, I can see that when the safety selector is placed in the middle position(yes, there is a middle position), there is a hammer block that prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin. Now, dropping the pistol may still cause it to fire if...

Red Army Elite 9x18 Mak Sale

I just got a 900 round case of Red Army Elite from J&G Sales for $231 delivered to the door. I know they are high on their shipping costs, but getting reloadable brass ammo for under $0.26/round seems like a deal to me. I have only fired PRVI Partizan in my P-64 so far, and I am looking forward ...

Re: P64 Range Report

Always careful with weapons OG. You are right about it being lighter, but it is quite nice @ about 3.5 lb. trigger pull in SA.

My .38 is 3.0 lb, so I am used to a light trigger.

Re: P64 Range Report

Just did the Wolff 22# spring on my new P-64, changed the hammer spring and the firing pin spring at the same time. Installed a PolishIron v.05 grip and went to the range the other day. I will be shooting mine frequently. It was easy on my hand and besides a few initial jams, once the gun fired, it ...
