Re: Reloading Converted 9x19 Brass Question

Doh - I read threads from the bottom of my screen to the top - so I answered your question in the other thread. Short answer here -- it is the responsibility of the reloader to verify that EVERYTHING about the ammo they are creating is correct. If they can't/don't accept that responsibility, they sh...

Re: Got Another

... That brings up another question. What would happen if someone picked up your converted brass and didn't notice the shorter length/slightly larger diamater. I don't think I would. Says 9mm luger. So, now they resize/de-prime. You still probably wouldn't notice the different size/length. Then you...

Re: Got Another

To help me identify my 9mm Makarov brass quickly, I use a red sharpie on the headstamps. That makes separating 9mm Mak from 9mm Luger brass quick and easy. Trimming down 9mm Luger brass for use as 9mm Makarov is the easiest case conversion ever. It helps make the loss of some 9mm Mak brass easier to...

Re: Difficulties loading Berry's Plated bullets

I'm glad that you got your issues worked out! I think that the amount of crimp that you apply is based on equal parts preference and firearm specific performance. If you're happy with the crimp, the bullet doesn't turn or wobble, and none of the lower rounds in the magazine have bullets come loose d...

Re: p 64

Maybe lubricate the magazine with some silicone spray? Rounds or a follower that gets hung up can cause a failure to feed properly.

Re: Difficulties loading Berry's Plated bullets

Very odd indeed. I suspect a problem with the dies.

Please, do let us know how this works out.

Re: Homemade Brass Catcher

Excellent work, Jun - I really enjoy seeing the result of a little applied ingenuity! I may have to give your idea a shot, since I'm also getting tired of losing so much time and energy spent on trimming brass. I lose easily 50% of the brass that comes out of my P64 (I shoot at an indoor range, and ...

Re: CZ 82 question

If you decide to blast the finish off, make sure that you read the instructions for the finish you intend to apply. I used Duracoat on the last 3 CZ-82's I refinished, and I foolishly used glass beads to blast one of them. The Duracoat instructions state clearly that blasting should be done with Alu...

Re: Difficulties loading Berry's Plated bullets

I reloaded a couple hundred 9 Mak rounds this past weekend, using the last of my Berry's plated bullets. I had trouble seating the first couple bullets because I did not flare the case mouth enough (Lee Pro 1000 with powder-through expander die). Once I added just a hair more flare, the bullets seat...

Re: Range report

I've fired literally thousands of bare lead rounds (Missouri Bullet Company 93 gr LRN) through my CZ-82 without any issue. I believe that there are 2 factors that lead to getting lead deposits: 1) Soft lead (MBC bullets are plenty hard, so not an issue) 2) Firing at too high a velocity (depends on y...

Re: Can I carry this way????

Mexican carry Here's an article on it. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_2_51/ai_n8591504/ It's not something I would do. +1 on that! The added security of solid retention is well worth any slight discomfort that using an IWB holster entails. Heck, if you look around a little, you can ...

Re: Bought some more stuff.

I've always had good luck with the Lee Auto-Disc powder measures. It's been my experience that they throw a very consistent charge. I don't know why Lee chose to move away from the spring-loaded return mechanism and go with the brass-ball-link-chain set-up, though. Setting the tension properly with ...

I try to make sure I've got a couple of layers in between me and the brush before squeezing; those bristles are sharp!

tdickens -- is re-holstering possible without a whole bunch of attire gyrations? Granted, if it was necessary to draw the pistol from concealment, ease of re-holstering it probably isn't the most pressing thought on my mind...
