It looks like a Nagant revolver variation from the firing pin and general shape, but maybe some other folks have a more precise identification.

Re: Big wants small wallet
Arik: The P-83 is essentially the same size as the classic Makarov. It will fit in leather and nylon holsters make for the Mak. It is somewhat lighter and has better ergonomics than the Mak. The problem is getting magazines. You can only get one extra through J&B. So, consider it for carry only ...

P83 SLIDE LOCK
blackblade
I went back and read your thread. I agree with you completely. The gun is well made, well designed. It is easy to shoot well. The mags pop out compared to other guns with a heel catch.

P83 SLIDE LOCK
Mike,
The final variant of the P-83 was sometimes called the P-93. It had a rounded hammer. A small quantity of commercial P-83's were imported to the U.S. and they had this feature. These may show up from time to time, but I believe that you will pay a premium for this type of hammer.

P83 SLIDE LOCK
Mike, Yes, I took advantage of that deal with J&G, but I like to have at least three mags for a carry gun, especially with a single stack. The second point has been discussed on earlier threads. The MAK mags with minor modifications probably would work in the Polish P-83. The slightly different ...

P83 SLIDE LOCK
Mike, My general impression of the gun is that it is much better than I expected. When I heard that it was not milled but made from weldings, I thought that it might be somewhat ugly. The pistol is definitely not ugly, although you can tell it is not milled. The great part about it is that it is lig...

J&G has them for the same price, about a nickle off $30 plus shipping. If you can buy a bunch of mags with a gun, that is the way to go. The mags are expensive!

Does anyone have one of these? Russian 1893 Nagant
Anjdrifter Good news! I got a Nagant revolver from J&G. I was amazed. It is practically new. It is a 1945 Tula with a very nice bore. My FFL holder commented that he never saw one this nice at any of the gun shows. I am still waiting for ammo from J&G. I think that I will start it out with t...

Thanks for your response and the link to the manual. This is all very helpful. So, stick with the .32 H&R mag and all should be well?

Thanks for your response. It is very helpful. Is the 327 Federal a little too hot in your opinion?

anjdrifter and papabear I just ordered one of these. What is the best ammo to use in your opinion? Do the cases split or do they fit well enough to reload? I have heard various things about these, that 32 long, 32 H&R mag, and the 327 Federal all work, but how well? Have you tried the Hotshot Na...

P-83 or CZ-82?
Cubsfan, You really cannot go wrong with either one of them. The CZ 82 is high cap and a little heavy, but it is a great pistol. The P-83 is lighter and thinner but has an 8 round capacity. If you have the money to get two Polish pistols, get them, but be sure that you get all the mags that you can....

Macclak,
You did not happen to be shooting a CZ 82? If so, it could be the rifling style. I have had keyholes on occasion with mine.
