Re: Recent purchase. Bad condition?
Glad to hear everything seems to be working correctly. Did you check the slide lock lever as to what the coati g or flaking is? And I agree with Curly about seeing if Aim will replace it. Sounds like it should be ok to shoot. Curly if your out there what do you think? Or Dfunk or Poppabear? Shoot it...

Re: Recent purchase. Bad condition?
Cloudystone, I forgot to answer one question that you asked in your first post. You asked if the condition is bad. In my opinion, which it and $2.00 will get you a cup of bad gas station coffee, no it is NOT in bad condition. In fact, at least the outside appears to be in rather good shape. Your gri...

Re: Recent purchase. Bad condition?
Why the pic down the bore? Rifling looks good to me. As far as the chipped corner I am not sure. Calling all the more knowledgable bretheren, anybody got a better answer than mine?

Re: Recent purchase. Bad condition?
And unless I miss my guess that is the slide lock lever. Why it is red I don't know. It appears to maybe have flaking on it? Is the coating a paint or some other finish? Perhaps the original was lost, they come loose pretty easy and was replaced with one from another gun.

Re: Recent purchase. Bad condition?
Cloudystone, Welcome to the Brotherhood. I must say that your P-64 looks at least as good as mine does if not better. remember that most of these guns were issued at some point in time and the person it was issued to did NOT pay their own hard earned money for it which means that they may not / did ...

LOTS more ammo. Shooting these can become very addictive, very quickly.

Re: Bad buy?
Yeah and Wyoming is a very gun friendly place too. Michigan requires a purchase permit on BB Pistols if it has a rifled barrel only (?????) but here it is wonderful. You would like it here. And no permit to carry concealed inside the state if your legal to own a handgun . Very cool.

I meant that the Star's grips have "Carameled" some. And if anyone can make those visible without having to click the link please have a go.

Re: New Find
By the way, here are the links to pics of my Star PD and RIA Officers 1911 wearing 4S's grips. The Stars are Jobillo wood and they have cameled some since this picture was taken and the 1911's are Burmese Blackwood. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ccmh3o34r074eqe/20140521_214428.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropb...

Re: New Find
Ok, I think I got it. It keeps the swinging link from stretching by slowing the compression timing and reducing the sharpness of the blow to the frame when the springs reach full compression, correct? Nice fix from an engineering standpoint but I think just using a hardened swinging link from the ge...
