Slight Pitting: Any Ideas?

The steel wool and oil will work great for light surface rust but will not remove pitting. You need to remove metal to remove the pits. Various sandpapers from 240 to 400 to 600 grit would likely do it before reblueing. Look for the original finish direction and sand in the same direction. You could...

What's your favorite shooting glove?

Fingerless bicycling gloves work very well. Lightly padded in the palms.
I wear a catcher's mitt when shooting a P-64 though. ;D

Which recoil spring and hammer spring?

The P-64 is a much safer option. P-64 carry in cond 1 wouldn't be much worse than the Glock with one in the chamber. I would never carry the P-64 "cocked and unlocked" and I would never carry a Glock either. The P-64 is very slim and easy to conceal. The stiff double action pull of the P-6...

Which recoil spring and hammer spring?

Considering this is for your wife you may want the 20 over the 22 lb spring. It's easier to cycle the slide with the lighter spring. The 18 lb hammer spring should be reliable with most ammo. The single action can be light but I've never found it a problem. You can get a set of 3 hammer springs (18,...

Which recoil spring and hammer spring?

The modification to the 22 lb spring is flattening the end coils to reduce the overall length. Some guns will take the spring with no modification. Try it in your gun first. The most common combination seems to be the 20 lb. recoil spring with the 18 lb. hammer spring. The recoil is unbelievable and...

Is the Recoil Really that BAD??

nala, Welcome aboard. Go ahead and get a P-64. I rather doubt you will regret it. For those that have never experienced recoil more severe than handling a soup spoon, these guns might be intimidating. For those with handgun experience these guns are not an issue. I have large hands, my girlfriend sm...

Which Hammer Spring are you running?

When I ordered springs, I got the hammer spring kit consisting of the 18, 19 and 20. I ordered both a 20 and 22 lb recoil spring at the same time. The 18 lb hammer spring and 20 lb recoil spring went into the '71 model. The 19 lb hammer spring and 22 lb recoil spring went into the '76 model. They bo...

Need a Barrel for my P-64

Thanks blinddog.
There's no rush.
I don't need a P-64 barrel but it would be good information for others that do considering there is no source for P-64 barrels at this time.
Now if anyone has a PA-63 barrel they could measure.....

Need a Barrel for my P-64

blinddog, The object is to see if a PA-63 barrel might be a suitable replacement for a P-64. I have both guns but neither with the barrel removed. Replacement barrels are readily available for the PA-63. The OD of the exposed portion of the barrels on both models are within .002". What I'm look...

Are you licensed to reload?

The article refers to "a license from a competent governmental authority..."
The single word "competent" will preclude licenses in this country.
