Re: What were they thinking?
Actually my line of thinking is that for the money the p-64 is an excellent weapon. It is very well made, but with a for sure European influence. If it were to be produced today by one of the big manufacturers think what the price would be! You are correct, the Kahr is a better weapon, designed for...

Re: Mystery 'chamber wear'
Thanks for the tip, legally armed. I replaced the recoil spring, firing pin spring and main spring today and polished the throat (right term?). As long as I was there I dressed the slight ding I originally inquired about. I didn't like the fact that there was actually a small burr on the inner circ...

Re: What were they thinking?
Another thing to remember is God forbid you did ever have to use your carry gun That $200 gun would be better. Because the police will take your gun and you will not get it back until after the investigation/ and or trial. So it could be a long time until you see that weapon again and it will be in...

Re: Mystery 'chamber wear'
both of mine have minor marks there. think it happens when you screw up when reinstalling the slide. brotip: rotate the end of recoil spring to be at 12:00 before reinstalling the slide, makes it go on a lot easier. this goes for every pp variant out there, from a pa-63 to a makarov to a bersa thund...

What were they thinking?
Anyone ever wonder what they were thinking when they designed the P-64? I don't mean this in a bad way, as I rather like my P-64's, but... They wanted a duty pistol in 9x18, and basing 9x18 pistols off the PP was the thing to do, but since a PP is clearly way too big for a duty gun (uh, wut?), they ...

What's your favorite canted IWB holster for your P64?
Now that I've done the spring swaps on my P64, I'm ready to buy a holster so I can carry it. I like IWB holsters, and I like the holster to hold the gun at a forward cant. Any ideas?

Re: Been Hemming and Hawing and Almost
I think you will find the p83 is a real sleeper. It may be the "ugly duckling" of the 9x18s, but if it shoots anything like mine you will be very pleased. There is no comparison between the '64 and the '83 as far as shooting comfort. You can actually shoot a box or two of ammo at one rang...

Re: Sometimes I just love "experts"/authority figures.
Right.......they simply would have copied someone else's design.... Not quite sure what this is in reference to.. the p-64 itself maybe? Except that's not a russian design. The makarov IS a russian design, and can't really be called a copy of anything. The 9x18 is likewise a soviet round, no...

Re: Thought it was a "Makarov".
P-64. One mag, no box. The store called it a "Makarov". I'm gonna bug 'em about that because it's no more a Makarov than a Tantal is a Kalashnikov. Nice pistol just the same. Gene Eh, a tantal is much more of a kalashnikov than a p-64 is a makarov. The P-64 and makarov don't share a singl...

Re: AIM SURPLUS
I too am having one delivered tomorrow from AIM can't wait. Paid the extra for the handpick, Been reading up on the P-64, from all I've seen and read, it appears to be a neat little pistol. Plan to carry it as a primary or a backup depending on the situation. I have been carrying my CZ 82, I think ...

The soviets weren't stupid. If 9x18 didn't work, they wouldn't have standardized on it. Simple as that.

Re: The Polish Wanad P-83
Can anyone elaborate on the build quality of the P83? I have read that parts are stamped with welds. Implicit in the comments I have read elsewhere is that, while an improvement over the P64, is is of lesser quality. I really like my P64, so it is not as if my standards are unreasonably high. I jus...

Re: The Polish Wanad P-83
or for US comparison... Weight unloaded: 25.75 oz Length: 6.5" Bbl length: 3.54" Anyone measure the trigger pull with a scale yet? Also, should we create a new section for the P83? trigger on my wanads feel very similar to my makarov. so, much better DA pull than a p64, much worse SA pull.

Re: "Short" Marschal P-64 Grips
I think it's the color or something, but those grips don't really look natural on the gun to me. They're beautiful in their own right though.
