Straight wall chamber bore steel vs brass
I don't think the expansion in a 9x18 would be enough to make a significant difference in slowing the blowback of the pistol, but I use all brass in mine on the theory that steel on steel will wear faster. Of course, it is probably not enough to notice a difference unless you shot thousands and thou...

Shootin' groups............
Just in the interest of full disclosure . . . When I said that I have shot 2" groups at 7-10 yds, that does not mean that they are my typical ho-hum targets. The pistol shoots that well, and on occasion I do too. . . . and no, I do not shoot my first shot in da. I am happy to hit the paper in d...

Shootin' groups............
The 2" groups that I shoot are at 7-10 yds. The pistol could probably do it at 25, but not my aging eyes . . .

If you have a Sportsman's Warehouse near you, I have found them to have the best prices on powder, and they carry the whold Hodgdon line. Their OTHER prices are through the roof, but for some reason, here in Minnesota at least, they have cheap powder. Personally, I use Hodgdon Universal pistol powde...

Abwehr, I would really recommend the Lee trimmer. It would be MUCH quicker and easier than using a grinder. Honestly, it is really perfect for this. One other thing that I have discovered from experience is this: It is easier to compare case length than it is to read a 9x18 headstamp. Seriously. I d...

nbender, Sorry, not set up for pictures. You can see better pictures than I would take at Leeprecision.com, though. I though it was a very clever idea. You basically have three parts: A cutting blade, The guide for your particular caliber, and a shell holder. The guide screws right into the cutter s...

dolang1, Congrats on your purchase and good luck! There is some great advice from these guys here. Just remember: never rush, and never exceed the manual unless you absolutely, absolutely know what you are doing. It is just not worth it. My two cents: Get a Lee case trimmer and make a bunch of 9x18 ...

Randy, I have had excellent luck shooting the p-64 with a slightly reduced load. (my recollection is 3.3 gr. universal under a 95 gr. bullet. I can confirm that if you are interested.) It makes teh p-64 very comfortable to shoot, doesn't beat up the frame, and doesn't send your brass into a low orbi...

destrux, I have weighed in on this in the past, so for what it is worth . . . I personally use trimmed luger brass. I have yet to see any noticeable difference in performance, and the availability of 9X19 brass makes it a slam dunk. I gave it a try initially just to see how it would work in case the...

Wow! Nicely done, Magicdoc! That looks like it is in great shape--certainly a steal for the price. (I presume it is one if the chromed ones from classic arms?) Is it missing the mag, or did you take it out for the photo? Certainly a Merry Christmas for you. God bless and straight shooting, -Kempin

. . . It's not that I don't want to talk about the p-64; it's just that mine is practically perfect, and I don't have much more to say! Seriously, I know that this board has some really informed members who also have an open mind, as evidenced by their recognition of the quality and value of the p-6...

dolang1, If you are already set up with the press, Lee does sell dies for 9x18. I bought the whole set, with shell holder and everything, for like $20 at Cabelas. Norm is right about the quality, but the Lee setup should be plenty adequate for 9x18. Whatever route you go, I encourage you to get back...

Manicmechanic, Ditto on the welcome and the remarks. I doubt that you would have any regrets with a p-64. (In fact, your Polish heritage makes it a mandatory purchase, in my opinion . . . at least that's what I told my wife.) Once broken in, it will be a great carry pistol with full power loads. If ...

Wolf, For what it's worth, I think loading is the way to go for the p-64. Loading down just a touch makes very comfortable and accurate shooting. Plus, you can get the hornady bullets and load carry ammo for a fraction of the cost of loaded. And some other guys may say different, but I have had grea...
