Re: P-64 Springs -The strongest recoil reduction available?
Robhic, No am not/ was not a teacher and do not wanna be 'cause I could not deal with the kids of today, they have no respect for others and even less manners, but thats a whole different soapbox. However anyone who WANTS to teach these days has my everlasting respect for guts, bravery and determina...

Re: P-64 Springs -The strongest recoil reduction available?
srREXed and others, The problem with the recoil issue begins with the weight and size of the weapon and the type of round being fired and ends with the term "percieved" or "felt". Recoil forces are the same with the 9x18 round no matter what firearm it is fired from as physics is...

Copper plated P-64 pics
Help, Some time ago member Copperhead (I think) posted pictures of his p-64 that he had copper plated. I can find the thread but his original posting and pictures do not show up and I would very much like to show a friend of mine those pictures. Can anyone find them or if Copperhead is still with us...

Re: Hammer Block Information
mountianfolk, Thank you for your concern but yes I do feel safe carrying the Rossi full up. It has a true hammer block safety, similiar to a transfer bar except this one is always in the "up" position and there fore keeping the hammer / firing pin from traveling far enough to reach a cartr...

Re: Hammer Block Information
Also be aware that not all modern revolvers use a transfer bar safety. I bought a brand new Rossi 6 shot revolver (k frame size) that not only does not use a transfer bar but has the firing.pin on the hammer. And it was new in the box and of recent manufacture. By the way that is one hell of a good ...

Re: Hammer Block Information
Well I still say your test gave us all some very good information and I agree with you that it is not very easy to get one to go off through an unintentional blow to the hammer although hit anything with enough force and it WILL move, just how much is that level of force. I myself carry with one in ...

Re: Hammer Block Information
Robhic, I like the test, good info here. I must ask, when striking the hammer with the dead blow hammer were you holding it in your hand? Reason I am asking is that your hand would give an unsolid support, is: would have some give from the intertia of the dead blow hammer wanting to move the entire ...

Re: My P64 does have a hammer block
Trooper Joe, I read that manual, thank you for finding and posting it. However I believe that it is written in a manner of military manuals and if the section you refer to is read with that in mind , Manual: trigger bar block, firing pin block, loaded chamber indicator it means that the safety's are...

Re: My P64 does have a hammer block
And damned if I did not forget one important thing. The P-64 has had the same decocker/ hammer block/ firing pin safety slide mounted safety since the initial production until production ended.

Re: My P64 does have a hammer block
Ok guys, I will try to explain this better. First we MUST remember that this was designed as a military / police weapon in the early 1960's by people who's last sidearm (T-33) had NO safety of any kind. That being said, they designed the P-64 to have a decocker/ hammer block/ firing pin safety. Sinc...

Re: My P64 does have a hammer block
Trooper Joe, Did you mean a firing pin safety? Because if I am correct the P-64 has a hammer block safety (which blocks the hammer when it is dropped from the cocked position) but does NOT have a firing pin safety which blocks the firing pin from forward movement unless the trigger has been pulled t...

Re: My P64 does have a hammer block
Trooper Joe, All P-64's have a hammer block safety. It operates when the safety is applied when the hammer is a the full cock position and drops the hammer to the at rest position. But, like all mechanical devices it may at some point fail allowing a hammer that has been pulled back from the at rest...
