m1 carbine

For $100 you can have your cake and eat it too! Go to the CMP website and order yourself a new set of walnut wood for that Carbine ... you can leave the original wood just like Dad had it and have new walnut to take to the range. Saands ps ... while BLO was commonly used, I believe that the US switc...

C&R question

Abwehr: If the Greenville shop (which one by the way?) won't take it, just hop over to Blue Ridge Shooting Sports over in Greer ... Steve is a GREAT guy to work with. I'm pretty sure the street address is 104 Hunt St ... but it has been a while since I lived there. I miss that place. He might even h...

General cost of a decent P-64?

Yeah ... I guess I should sit back and smile on this one ... it seems that I NEVER get in early enough to get the good deals ... these, the Turk Mausers, and the Mosins have been about it for me. The days of inexpensive (and as-issued, I might add) 1911/03a3/Garand/M1 Carbines were long gone before ...

C&R question

There are some caveats to the "Yes" answer you got on the 50 plus year rule. BATFE in all other matters uses the age of the reciever to determine the age of the firearm ... for example ... in the winter of 1939 several Russian soldiers (500,000 to be fair) carried Mosin-Nagant rifles to Fi...

General cost of a decent P-64?

I see that Empire Arms has them listed for 175 now ... I hadn't been looking and figured that SOG still had them for 129 a pop ... so many people were dissing them on the other boards that I never thought that THESE would have "sold out" so soon ...

9x18's

I've never seen a p-83 ... are the heavier or lighter than the 64? Same size (I can't imagine smaller) or bigger?

Thanks,

Pistol Storage

Plastics that are used to make the foams are notorious for harboring moisture ... I would NOT store a firearm with the finish against the foam. If you recall, many of those that arrive in a plastic or foam lined box are wrapped in a rust preventative paper. I have had good luck using the silicone im...

bzinggg's warning not to polish the inside of the chamber is worth reading 5 or 10 times if you are considering that ... the cases expand upon firing and the friction between the case and the chamber walls is part of what retards the rearward motion of the slide. If you polish that, you will certain...

Yep ... that is what mine looked like ... I'm a little surprised that it feeds JHP's at all! I think that this is the best reason to have two of these fine little gems! Good luck and go slow ... remember you can always go back and take more metal off, but it is really difficult to add metal back!!!!...

Back to Factory Hammer Spring?

If a company really wants to sell some good P-64 parts they'd be making a variety of grips like resin ones in different colors and patterns and rubberized grips. It looks like about every member of this board would be up for that. Now THAT has to be something that we can all agree on ;) Especially ...

Back to Factory Hammer Spring?

I'm certain that the guys at Radom knew what they were doing! That being said, I think that they may have had different design goals than some of us. Also, because it was SOOOOO difficult to find a stiffer recoil spring in 2006/7, I tend to believe that the guys at Radom in 1964 were also limited by...

SHOW YOUR C&R RIFLES

Papabear ... I KNEW I had a problem when I could name the models of each of yours! Actually, there is one under the K31 that I couldn't get for sure ... is it a Carcano or a Styer? Also, that is one heck of a bayonet collections ... I bet some of them cost more than the rifles (K31, M39 ... and the ...

Would the trigger be like that? IMHO, NOTHING would double-tap like THAT P64 ... except maybe a MP5 on burst mode ...

Whatever happened to ... (past forum members)

Some folks get really busy at times and don't have the chance. I've noticed that there aren't too many new questions, so I have also slowed down a bit ... and gotten busier at work. I also pick up a new project from time to time (a 1943 M1 Carbine from the CMP has most of my attention right now) ......

All my handloads use the Hornady XTP-HP ... they seem to work well in all the P-64's that they've met. 920-940 fps ... I didn't realize these factory loads were travelling so slowly ... no wonder my handloads feel spicy ... and no wonder the mag spontaneously ejected with the wimpier PP hammer sprin...
