Now for something completely different
(Sorry for the extra post. We are having a storm, and I had some problems with my connection.)

Now for something completely different
Wow. You guys Rock. (No pun intended) I took your advice and ordered the Rock Island, and finally had a chance to shoot it today. It was awesome! I'm sure my expectations were adjusted by the fact that it was so much cheaper than other brands, but boy was I pleasantly surprised! Not only did it feel...

Now for something completely different
Well guys, I just thought I'd report back. After listening to your advice, I just HAD to order a Rock Island mil spec. After some adventures with backorder, it arrived. Total out the door cost: $323.05 Not bad for a brand new 1911 with case and limited lifetime warranty. (Whatever that's worth.) Hav...

Did I almost blow my gun up?
Saands, Maybe we should start a thread about this, since I am sure it is not unique to us. Personally, though, I really haven't had any time yet to look it over closely and try to figure what is going on. Generally speaking, my pistol has continued to improve performance the more it is broken in. My...

Did I almost blow my gun up?
Good one, Amd6547! I will have no problem disposing of them. (they actually shoot quite accurately) Just going to do it in the bigger pistol. If I hadn't gotten into hand loading, I would probably get more. Can't beat the price. Saands, I have also had the problem of Silver bears chambering reliably...

Did I almost blow my gun up?
You beat me to it, space! A brass casing actually expands and "sticks" to the chamber under high pressure. I have always wondered the implications of having a steel case that is not as pliant as brass. If steel was that great of an option, the industry would have gone to it long ago. In pa...

Did I almost blow my gun up?
Very good advice, xelloss.
Physics are not affected by testosterone. I love my p-64, but if you need more power, then get something more powerful. Don't try to make your pistol do what it was not designed to do. You may not be as fortunate as Mark's friend.

Decided against the P-64
As a complete non-expert in the law, I thought I should wade in with my ignorance. Feel free to disagree. First, the point of concealed carry is not to shoot someone. It is to provide for the (God forbid) rare emergency when someone else is trying to take, or greatly damage, your life. Like the airb...

Decided against the P-64
A man's decision on a pistol is his own to make, and especially if you are planning to carry, you should choose the gun in your price range with which you are most comfortable. Personally, I bought a p-64 because it seemed a good buy--a brand new service grade pistol for $139. (And I am part polish....

Testing a new load
Tunnelrat, Thanks for sharing your load data/range report. I am hoping to gather as much loading info as I can for the p-64. Sounds like a pretty hot load, though. According to the alliant website, 3.6 grains of bullseye is max load and creates a chamber pressure of 21,200. I don't know how much the...

Who has a chromed P-64?
Does anyone know more specifically how that chroming process works? Specifically, how much do they heat the metal in order to chrome it? Hard chrome is extremely durable and would be an excellent modification for a outdoors/heavy use firearm--especially at the price they are apparently doing it at C...

Now for something completely different
Hey guys, thanks for the info! (As a rule of life, I find it useful to talk to people who know before I blunder in.) Sounds like it would be hard to go wrong with any of those choices for my needs right now. "Someday" I plan to have both a Colt and a Springfield, but I'm not sure how far a...

Now for something completely different
Ok, I know this is cheating to post this here, but I figured I could find two things here: objective opinions and experienced shooters. (My theory is that p-64 owners tend to have a more open mind.) So . . . I am considering adding a .45 1911 to my arsenal, and operating on a limited budget was wond...

Money well spent..
Oh, I thought you meant a "Polish" feed ramp . . . (Sorry, couldn't resist.) I have almost all Lee reloading equipment, including the Makarov dies, and have absolutely no complaints. Please post your load data with AA #5 and range results when you get around to it. I am always looking for ...
