Re: Deep (undercover) carry (and a smile to go w/it!)
Just FYI, I've seen stories (with pictures) of folks who have shot themselves in the junk with similar rigs. Not saying that's the case with all of them (including this one), just that I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable carrying a loaded weapon right there.

Re: Differences in P64s by year.
I believe pre-1970 (?) the magazines are slightly different, and I've read that the newer mags don't work correctly in the older pistols. In other words, something about the slide lockback is slightly different.

You can buy them locally at Gander Mtn for < $250, no extra FFL fee, no shipping fee, and you see it in person.

Re: P64 or makarov
As for the accuracy...I find it hard to believe anything the size of the P64 can beat it for its accuracy. I easily hit repeated bullseyes at 25 yards, and stay in the 10 ring at 50 yards.

Re: Recommend Gunsmith ? P-64 jams real bad.
The fact is that no gunsmith stateside designed this weapon, nor can most of them read the factory manual (it's not in English). Being so particular about some basic repairs/work on a $200 pistol is just silly. If you can operate a rubber mallet, pliers, and a screwdriver, you can fix or replace alm...

Re: Hammer not cocking after firing
Well, if it was as simple as the hammer not locking back, you would be getting a slam fire (it would fire in full auto until the mag was emptied)...which would be scary as hell.
Since it sounds like it's just firing 1 at a time, it seems like your safety must be getting toggled, at least momentarily.

Re: BAD NEWS_NEED HELP
Careful with terms like "blew off", the slide comes off the front of the pistol....the only thing it did was recoil off the back of the frame, and spring forward without the trigger guard to stop it. Aside from maybe getting whacked by a flying slide, nothing "blew up" or "b...

That, or his SB ammo is defective (maybe slightly out of spec).

If you put oil on it, and the paint was old/dried out/cracked, it probably fell off.

Steel case my friend, not steel bullets. The bullets are copper-plated lead, the case is simply non-reloadable steel, instead of soft[er] brass.

Re: hammer won't move in DA
Sounds like it's not going into battery, I.e. the disconnector is getting tripped.
Don't be insulted by the question...but you are using 9x18mm ammo, and not the much more common 9x19mm, right?

Re: Another way the P-64 can discharge w/o pulling the trigg
I would not suggest doing this with a live round...the slide will come back faster than you can react and could easily break your finger.

Re: Slide won't lift for disassembly
I'm guessing that the spring gets fully compressed when you pull it back that far. Some springs maybe have an extra half coil that stacks up too thick. Grinding it off really just makes the spring shorter.

Re: P-64 Springs -The strongest recoil reduction available?
Which implies your original spring was allowing the slide to hit the stops pretty hard, meaning it was too weak for the ammo you are using.

Re: P-64 Springs -The strongest recoil reduction available?
The spring absorbs it, and re-releases it. It has very little if any measurable damping. Yes, it takes 4 more lbs of force to compress it 1 inch. Since you are shooting the same loads hence have the same amount of force from firing the bullet, it will compress less (the spring compresses until there...
