New recoil springs ...
Well ... the first company that I called wasn't able to do what we need. It looks like I will need to enhance my model to predict stresses as well as the forces and energies of the designs I've been looking at. These guys wouldn't spec their springs to have the amount of deflection that we need in t...

Wood grips durable???
It sounded like you were going to be the test case for Dennis' grips ... thanks for doing that! What wood did you get?

Wood grips durable???
By now there are a lot of folks that must have some of the wood grips ... how are they holding up under use? There are some areas of the plastic grips that are so thin I thought that I should check to see if that has made the wooden versions super-fragile. I love the look of wood, but I still want a...

PA-63 SPRING IN P-64
Norm ... that certainly helps ... but even at 1.41" it looks like you will still be a little light with this one. The real difference in my calcs is the free length of the spring ... you are a couple of mm shorter than the factory spring I measured. It is AMAZING how sensitive springs are to sl...

PA-63 SPRING IN P-64
Norm ... Please be careful and start off by shooting something soft! My calcs show that, if the same materials were used, this spring will be considerably lighter than the original. I have been using the energy stored in the spring as the slide retracts as my figure of merit, and this one as you hav...

How did you find us?
I've been gone for a while (hyper busy at work) but I seem to recall that dickfunk pointed me to this place when he started it up ... we were talking about the 64 on one of the other forums ... probably THR or TFL. I guess I was an early adopter on this one, but I saw it had great potential 8-) Grea...

Which pistol has fewer parts?
The PM has like 3 parts or something amazing like that ;D OK ... well more than 3 (28 IIRC), but MANY of its parts serve multiple functions. The P64 probably has fewer parts than a Walther PP/PPK but I'd bet it still has more than the PM. I haven't ever counted them, though. Anyone actually count? S...

Punishing recoil?
That combo sounds ok to me ... you may find that the SA trigger is too light for your tastes ... it all depends on the example you have. I just ordered 19# springs for mine. The stock recoil spring is fine, and even though I prefer the recoil of the HK spring mod, I prefer the smooth functioning of ...

New recoil springs ...
Yes ... I meant bigger than 0.510" ... I'll edit that next. I will also inquire into the possibility of having them made tapered as that would clearly be a closer match. I do think that as long as the ends are closed, that they won't cause any problems if there is a little clearance. I was unab...

PA-63 SPRING IN P-64
Norm,
Can you give me some measurements of the 63's spring so I can put it into my model:
OD of the spring
diameter of the wire
length of the spring sitting uncompressed
Thanks,
Saands

Punishing recoil?
Actually the HK spring is too large in diameter adn it rubs on the inside of the slide ... probably more of an annoyance than anything else, but spring steel is pretty sensitive to wear in that regard, so my concern is that the spring could fail over time ... probably not a catastrophic failure, but...

Cool ... I'll call it 0.510" and go with that. If anyone finds one that is bigger than 0.510", please let me know.

New recoil springs ...
I figured that a title like that would get some attention. I got tired of waiting for Wolff ... Can someone give me an accurate measure of the outer diameter of their P64 barrel? I'm away from my P64 at the moment and need to make sure that the new recoil springs that I'm trying to get made will fit...

Online Spring Order
Nah ... I'm thinking more along the lines of a non-profit organization on this one ... maybe instead of a store front, we could call it a community distribution center ;D Now ... can someone give me an accurate measure of the outer diameter of their P64 barrel? I'm away from my P64 at the moment and...

Punishing recoil?
The 25# recoil spring mod is a marked improvement in the recoil department as it keeps the slide from slamming into the frame at the back end of the recoil stroke ... but I don't like the fact that it rubs. I talked to Wolff and they said that they are working on an upgrade, but wouldn't commit to a...
