Re: Ammo
My 1976 P64 seems to do well w/all the mentioned brands but, oddly, my CZ82 will not load Privi Partizan at all, although other brands load w/no problem. It consistently jams when stripped off the mag, and I've tried several different mags & several different boxes of ammo; even had a very exper...

1931 Astra 900 "broomhandle" pistol, converted from 7.63x25 to 9mm para., but thinking of re-barreling back to 7.63. One of my favorite pastols.

Re: P64 strength
I only know of one blow-back 9x19 pistol that may still be around and that is the Astra 600. Or in its 9 x 21 sibling, the Astra 400. . I've never tried shooting a 9x19mm out of either a P-64 or Makarov. I am not sure if the pistol would "fly apart". The bore of a Makarov or P-64 is sligh...

Re: new guy with spring questions
If you get one of the "unmodified" Wolff return springs, you only need to file/grind the end coils to a flat surface to make them work just fine. That's what I did w/mine. Just work slowly & don't overdo it. HTH.

Dalek,
Just try shooting 9x19mm again, and you may well find out. Seriously, they're not kidding. NEVER shoot any ammo other than what the weapon is built to fire. HTH.

Re: Parts availability for these guns
Just to be clear: it's a guy IN Poland who's selling the parts, not a guy FROM Poland, so plan on a 10-14 day delivery time from order. Having said that, he's an honest and thorough source f/P64 parts. HTH.

Re: Indent spring too long!
Do you mean the detent & spring? I cut 1.5 coils off of mine & also got a much better safety action. Be careful, though, of cutting too much off, as it may result in a malfunction during firing; or so I've read on this forum. HTH.

Yep, mine wouldn't even re-mount the slide til I flattened both ends.Curly1 wrote:Agreed, I never flatteed mine either and have no problems but you never know some guns can be picky.

Re: P64 Slide Not Completely Closing
I did not square off the ends of the new springs. As of now, I put the original spring back in and will fire it this way first. Why are there problems with the new springs the way they are cut? How much do I need to taper the ends? Cooper- You don't need to taper them, just flatten the outsides of ...

Re: what made you pick up a P64? What do you like / dislike?
As others have said, I was first attracted to the P64 by the price & size. After getting my 1976 I began to feel, more & more, that it couldn't be beat as a solid, reliable defense weapon for anywhere near its price. Of all the pistols, semi-auto & revolver, that I own (about 14 or so), ...

Re: who here has an AK?
Okay, I'll confess to owning two, both semi-auto: a 7.62x39 Romanian AKM 10/63 underfolder, and a Polish AK74 Tantal, both from CAI. The AKM(aka AK47) is built like cast iron and was put together by guys who actually KNOW how to build them and used all original parts (except f/those replaced by CAI ...
