Re: p-83 double action problem

also, there is a hole to the left of the firing pin in the slide. can you advise if this hole is present on your pistols. As juniustaylor mentioned that is where the Loaded Chamber Indicator should have been #18 in the manual . When I got mine from J&G that was missing as well. Luckily I spotte...

Re: p-83 double action problem

I think I know what happened to Frisbee's P83. I just picked one up and the same thing happened to mine. It quit working in D/A. I discovered that when I removed the grips to clean the weapon, a small spring under the right hand grip became dislodged. The pistol would work in S/A only. I got the D/...

Re: p-83 double action problem

an update, still having trouble removing the pin that retains the hammerfly. i have tried an arbor press, resulting in a bent bit, and a 1/16th punch which also bent. purchased a starrett punch based on their reputation for quality however, i am not optimistic. i think that this might whip me. OK, ...

Re: Some Help Please....

The only thing I had an issue with was webbing of my hand being kind of sore after shooting about 200 round through the gun. There are no marks, so I know I wasn't 'bit', but, still. That is from the recoil being transferred though such a narrow grip. I put the 22lb Wolff recoil spring on mine and ...

Re: Looking to sell one of three...which one?

I'd lean toward the Bulgy Mak. I Also have all three plus some... The PA-63 seems to be all dried up from the usual venders. So replacing it might be more difficult. The P-64 is still available from the normal venders. But I think that wave is drying up. So replacing it would be difficult as well. T...

Re: safe to store magazines fully loaded?

The notion of unloading and loading magazines to save the springs is an age old myth. A lot of old timers will stand by it. But it's just that, a myth. (Maybe a good one to send to Myth busters, they like doing gun stuff)

Re: No fire on the double action?

Have you, or is it possible the previous owner had switched the hammer spring for a lighter hammer spring? I've heard that sometimes the 17 and 18lb hammer springs will fail on some P-64s. Just depends. Also you might want to check the Hammer Strut, and Spring to make sure everything is installed co...

Re: Snapped TV Series - Misidentifies a P-64 as a "Makarov"

They also show the weapon used as a backward image of a 1911 (i.e. the controls are on the wrong side). And examples of Makarovs in training. The media really has no clue when it comes to handguns. To them a modern style handgun is a Glock or 1911.

Re: Can anyone explain the heavy DA trigger?

Yes, in a stressful situation, in most cases adreniline will get the trigger pulled. However if you aren't train/practicing you double action pull, you will throw off your aim, and that first round won't count.

Re: Can anyone explain the heavy DA trigger?

I can't really comment on the design reason. But with training/practice you can be just as accurate in double action as in single. I've done a few competition where the first shot had to be double action at 25m (just further than 25 yards) and landed those in the same place as the single action shots.

Re: Magazine without finger extension?

I have never seen magazines for the P-64 without the finger extension. Yes people have removed/modified their finger extensions. In this thread you can view some pics of some mods: http://www.p64resource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1103&p=3590 I understand you might want to mod the extension for f...

Re: extra rounds magazines?

If you search through this forum, you will find that it's been tried before. From what I remember they had marginal to negative success with trying to modify magazines. I think the were able to get 1-2 more rounds but they sacrificed the reliability of the weapon. I definitely would not carry someth...

Re: Point of Impact Question

Like dfunk said these P-64s are very accurate. The point of aim/impact (poa/poi) depends allot on the distances as well. On my P-64 I know the poa/poi is right on at 25 meters. My friends that have shot it have been impressed by it's accuracy. Generally speaking with these, the accuracy all depends ...
