Tested all my mags at the range today and they all functioned flawlessly. Put about 80 rounds thru it trying to get used to the DA/SA differences.
Looked at the SOG site and the mags are still available.

Re: P64 Hard Safety Action
There's threads in the modifications section on reshaping the plunger and iirc a replacement spring that's available.
Also look at the threads on modifying the detent cut out on the decocker.

Re: Tula Ammo
2+ on the HCD ammo. Functions flawlessly and the ballistic tests are favorable.
Last I read on Red Army was it was key holing out of a P64.
What do you guys think of Brown Bear ammo for practice?

Re: What do you ask the gunsmith to do with safety that has tighen so bad my senior thumbs can't move it?
There are some threads in the mods section re: reshaping the head of the safety detent pin and the detent notch on the safety itself to make it easier to use. I bought my P64 and about a month later the safety froze up just like yours. I was afraid of breaking the tab off because I couldn't get it t...

" a few Makarov caliber cousins and this one was missing the group"
You live in a good state. Only the P64 is on Kaliforrnya's approved roster so finding any other caliber cousins for private party purchase is extremely rare.
Enjoy it and welcome

Re: Magazine number thread?
Already done but probably forgotten. I was just reading over old posts and I found it in another section: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1572
I figure I'll post the numbers I have and resurrect the thread this weekend.

Magazine number thread?
Am I blind? I thought I read a "do you have my mag" thread on here a while back but I can't find it now. Doing a search didn't find it so I thought I'd do a reality check. If there isn't one then maybe it's time to start one. Being that there's umpteen thousand mags out there it would be a...

Re: Finally took the P64 to the range
I was looking at the PI grips but the recoil doesn't bother me. It's a small gun so it's gonna kick a little. Honestly, my Manurhin PP in 32 cal kicks almost as bad as the P64 (my hand loads) The bite in the web isn't a big deal either. My 1911 leaves me with a scab when I shoot a couple hundred rou...

Finally took the P64 to the range
As the title says, took it shooting today. I wanted to try out the heavier recoil spring and Hogue grip wrap. I don't know what all the negative hype is about. Recoil was manageable (much less than I anticipated from all the web comments), grip size good, DA trigger is a bear (but did several DA dra...

Re: P64 Magazines in Stock???
Of the 10 I got 6 had serial numbers etched on the and 4 looked like NOS with no etching. All post 1972 mags and the non etched ones had stronger bright steel springs.
I'm very happy with them.
Too bad they didn't come yesterday, I went to the range today and could have tested them.

Re: P64 Magazines in Stock???
Yup, just got my confirmation email for WAAAAAYYY more of them than my wife thinks I'm ordering. The shipping isn't bad either. Have to wonder when the site won't quote shipping until after the order is placed...
They've got some excellent condition P64's in stock for a decent price too.
