Re: Safety Detent/Detent Spring...
Clean the hole where the detente goes. There might be burrs or dirt that got stuck somehow? If the detente goes in flush, try putting the spring again. Also as Curly suggested, round the pointy part of the detente, and file the hole on the safety drum where the detente sits, file it at an angle for ...

Re: Broken trigger guard......
Hmn, after reading this thread, I"ve decided to put back the Wolff 20# recoil spring. I put the OEM spring back, after shooting the pistol with both springs and noticing no difference in the felt recoil. But obviously the 20# Wolff will have a stronger tension than the OEM 18#(?) spring, even i...

Re: P64 Slide not holding open
Also with regards to the recoil spring. Before you go on cutting it down by a coil, try to check first how much clearance it has between the slide stop and the ridge it sits on. On my pistol, with the slide held back on an empty mag, I pulled the slide back, there is about 1/4" of clearance bet...

Re: P-64 safety has a half way point
If you go to the link Curly has provided, you will see my post on the 2nd page. I had the same issue as yours, and my simple fix was to hammer the upper area of the disconnector, to add a little or extend the tip area that contacts the safety drum. Have shot about 1K rounds with no issues. I use the...

Re: P-64 Breach Block Deformation
I feel blessed when it comes to pistol purchases. I bought a Phoenix Arms .22 that a lot of posters at another forum, bad mouth as being pot metal and wont last long before a major problem like frame cracking occurs. I've already shot over 2K HV ammos, and it remains problem free. Then I got the P64...

Re: Another way the P-64 can discharge w/o pulling the trigg
I would not suggest doing this with a live round...the slide will come back faster than you can react and could easily break your finger. +1 ^^^ I think somebody tested this using just primers. Ah, good point snailman. Thanks! Maybe I should try it with just my primed casings, as Curly mentioned.

Re: Another way the P-64 can discharge w/o pulling the trigg
^ Interesting. I got curious by this and tried it on my 1976 stamped P64. With the hammer fully cock, the pencil did fly out about 8" above the muzzle. With hammer retracted about 3/8" no movement, but when its over 1/2", the pencil didn't fly out, but I can see a little movement. Not...

Re: Decocker too hard to use shooting hand thumb
The hammer spring has nothing to do with the decocker being stiff. My decocker slides smoothly up or down when I re-installed the OEM hammer spring, just as it did with the 18# spring.
Follow the above advice and you'll feel the difference.

Re: Slide won't lift for disassembly
I had the same issue when I first installed the xtra power Wolff recoil spring. Following the advice of some posters here, I grinded the end of the spring flat (I did both ends) and the re-assembly went smoothly afterwards. I also didn't see any difference on felt recoil between the new spring and t...

Re: P64 - Mag stuck / possible damage?
What could have happened was, the expanded spent case did not eject quick enough and got caught by the new cartridge being pushed by the slide to load. The the nose of new round may have been lodge between the feed ramp and the spent casing, while the rear casing was still on the mag's feed lips. To...

Re: Decocker too hard to use shooting hand thumb
The detent is locking in the hole on the safety drum. You need to use one of those dremel rotary file similar to this: http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd139/potpotpics/FORUM%20VIEWING/Dremel%20Tungsten%20Carbide%20Cutter%209931%20EN%20r19770v15_zpsy06q24op.jpg Grind the two sides on the safety dr...

I must've been one of the lucky ones. Mine is what one might say, perfect inside and out. It's the one with 1976 stamped on the slide.

Re: P-64 Springs -The strongest recoil reduction available?
Well, since you've already dremel'ed the bolt face, tapered inwards. Why not dremel the lever tapered outwards? that way when both ends meet as the empty mag pushes it up, there's more like a locking contact (for lack of better words) between the two. JMO

Re: Light strikes with bobbed hammer?
It's visible snailman. I've check before posting my comment just to be sure. Almost half the hole is sticks out past the slide edge. The possible problem I see on OP's mod plan is not much on the light strike, but more on the integrity of the remaining steel, once the spur is grinded. Im thinking it...
