Both of mine have flat grips, and both are in fine shape...
On another note, a diagram of the trigger/hammer/sear mechanism of the P-64 can be found in E. Ezell's Small Arms of the World...

My response to P-64 snobs
abwehr, the reason the Pistolet Makarova and P-64 worked well for their respective countries is that (IMHO) both militaries operated off the Soviet infantry model, wherein the officers' jobs weren't so much leading the troops (as in the Western model), but directing them... NCOs and front-line offic...

My response to P-64 snobs
There seems to be a lot of Makarov owners who sneer down at the P-64s... Not sure why... I own and enjoy both, but I carry the P-64 (easier to conceal and still hella accurate) as a partner to my bodyguard-framed Taurus snubby .357 magnum... Oh well, more for us, right guys??? ;D ;D ;D

saands, WOW!!! Vihtavouri is good (but HOT) stuff... I'm a big fan of their powder line (of course, it's Finnish, so it's cool ;D ;D)... What do those rounds achieve out of a Pistolet Makarova???

Who Has Used Their P-64 to Stop Would-be Attackers
cz83, in place of rivets in the trunions, special screws are used... Many people have done it, and swear by it, and there's no indication that it's any unsafer than riveted... Me, I'm a rivet man, for authenticity, and because I just KNOW I'd bust the stupid tap, lol... ;D ;D ;D

Any markings inside your P64 Holsters?
My black P-64 holster is marked with a circular stamp with KJ and 11/16 in it... There is also a (presumably) manufacturers stamp marked L.Z.P.S. Zakl. Art. Skorz. and w Tomaszowie Maz...

custom grips
My only problem with the thin grips is that on the back of my P-64s they aren't quite symmetrical, leading to a slightly painful ridge... A set of thin, smooth grips would be nice...

"xelloss", I have never heard of the PS Grand FMJ, who sells this? abwehr, I'm not sure who's currently importing it, but I get it at a local gunshop for relatively cheap (about $5-6 for a box of 50)... It's brass-cased and boxer primed so I don't mind spending more than on the Russian st...

How are you carrying the P-64?
I carry with the chamber empty, safety off, but I do this with all my carry semiautos... I figure if I don't have time to work the slide, I'm in HTH combat anyways, and for that I like having both hands free...

What's everyone's favorite Makarov ammo for general use (FMJ or HP)??? My personal favorite was the old Hungarian MFS FMJ ammo for the Mak... Haven't been able to find any in several years now... Shot incredibly well out of my Mak... My current favorite is the PS Grand FMJ ammo from Slovakia... Feed...

How do you carry?
For all day CC, I found IWB to be a bit too uncomfortable... I've since moved to mainly OWB with belt slide holsters, and I've been able to carry all day with little to no pain, and have yet to be 'made' while carrying... For any type of belt carry, though, one needs to make sure they have a GOOD be...
