OT - Other Pistols
can't match toolman's experience--but I did have my hands on a 1918 Artillery-model Luger once--Had a 1916 black holster, wooden shoulder stock, mag pouches, cleaning rod, and a couple of extra ( modern) mags--the mag in the well had the old wooden button even. The holster was on a shoulder strap. G...

9mm mak stopping power vs 38 special?
Hey, just ask Warthog if you could do worse--he'll tell you all about the useless .25 caliber!! LOL!! I think the Mak is a great caliber myself, at normal SD situation ranges it should certainly do the job, with less likelihood of passing straight through the taget than the 9mm Para--but that's just...

9mm mak stopping power vs 38 special?
just from reading "Cartridges of the World", it looks like the Mak is close to the standard .38 Special, but not to the +Ps, in terms of ballistics..However, I wonder if, in terms of "stopping power", that hemispherical, slightly-larger-in-diameter bullet might have some advantag...

Triangular or Round Hammer; which do you prefer?
I have round hammers on my Mak and my Zastava--I like the triangular one on my P64, just for variety's sake!

Finally got to shoot
I did--they were very comfortable, but the varnish where the wood meets the top of the frame in back showed some tiny cracks--it was just in the varnish, Christian sanded it out and fixed it, but he is modifying his design to eliminate any potential problem...making the backstrap part fit better aga...

How do you carry?
Actually, I'm looking at a .25 now myself--a Galesi, with a partial box of ammo, for $130--it's just too cute to let go! LOL! But I'm just looking, right now

Finally got to shoot
my P64!! I dunno where all that "bad press" comes from ( the stuff I see on other boards i mean)..I only got to shoot about half a box, but there were no jams, no bites, no monster recoil--no nuthin' but some fun shootin'! ;D I'm not much of a shooter, so i can't vouch for the accuracy or ...

Decided against the P-64
BTW--If you have some kind of insurance that can be shoehorned into the situation (eg, you shoot the bad guy on your porch, and you have homeowner's insurance)--you DO potentially have a "deep pocket"--and don't laugh, a prominent newscaster in the DFW area tried exactly that tack in a sli...
