Re: Hornady Critical Defense Ammo
When I'm asked "What do you do with those mouse guns?" I usually say, "Repeat until the assault stops". It's not like self defense is a casual thing - you do it because it's the least harmful of the alternatives. I have some CD in 9mm Makarov. I'll get around to shooting some aft...

Re: Hornady Critical Defense Ammo
If the Makarov is "close" to the 380 ACP offering it'll be decent. Here's a disappointing test with the 380 that hit a "rib" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD4Z5hKg8zs Hornadys own test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_QV0RVwot4&feature=player_embedded About ten inches of pen...

"Loose" Safety
While changing the firing pin spring I discovered that there is a spring loaded detent that holds the safety lever in place. I managed to keep the spring but lost the plunger. I'll make a replacement. What I did notice is that the safety becomes very "loose" once the detent plunger is gone...

Re: 45 AUTOS
No one has mentioned a Springfield Amory. I have had several over the years and I really like them. When SA got the contract for the FBI I got one of the civilian types (blued) and it is great. I gave my brother in law my mil spec SA that came out a while back. He put Marine Corps grips on it. He i...

P-64. One mag, no box.
The store called it a "Makarov". I'm gonna bug 'em about that because it's no more a Makarov than a Tantal is a Kalashnikov.
Nice pistol just the same.

Re: WELCOME THREAD AND MEM, INFO
Been carrying concealed since the 1980s and owned firearms since the 1970s. Mostly been buying "utility" firearms like revolvers, shotguns and such. I've done a lot of reloading over the years, mainly centerfire rifle and larger handguns. Lots of 45 ACP but not a lot of that lately. Today ...

Re: Sometimes I just love "experts"/authority figures.
The guy didn't like me, didn't like "Commie Guns" especially Makarovs, didn't understand my preference for them, and probably doesn't like himself much either. But that's not my problem. Just thought I'd share this amusing lil story with y'all. With the right ammunition a Makarov can put ...

Re: Why are we at the mercy of AIM, SOG Etc?
Perhaps a motivated person on here can get the ball rolling so we can all have an "armorers kit" with a few extra parts? I am SURE there are PLENTY of extra parts somewhere in Poland! Probably, but they've probably been stockpiled for existing P-64s. The Poles quit making them a long time...

Re: Why are we at the mercy of AIM, SOG Etc?
The International Arms Market.... based upon contacts, old friendships, and dealing with Government sources in Poland. Anyone here speak Polski? I don't, and I'm not even sure I'm calling the Polish language by its proper name. Importing parts is different from importing arms. It's kind of ironic - ...

Thought it was a "Makarov".
I don't mind - it's not a bad pistol. I'll just get a "real" Makarov some other time. I carry a Ruger LCP and/or SW Airweight for CC. I have several Russian Ex-Pat colleagues and thought it would be fun to buy a "Russian" handgun. Already ordered new springs from Wolff (I did the...

Another good source for reloading presses is CH4D. Dave has been in the field for a spell and can deliver some nice dies and presses.
