Re: A learning experiance

Interesting to hear that all or most of them have the chamber ding. The picture in the thread " mystery chamber wear" is exactly what I am talking about. Good to hear that it has no effect on functioning. Mine is going back Mon. I think I'll deal with Classic Arms from now on. I just like...

Blazer ammunition problems?

I'm seeing some failures to fully go into battery with Blazer 9mm Makarov. Has anyone else seen this problem on the range?

Yes, the pistol was dirty. I've since given it a good scrubbing.

Re: Thought it was a "Makarov".

Your best bet concerning the Makarov issue is just to go, "OK" and go on with life. Peace favor your sword, Kirk You're right, Kirk. My P-64 has grown on me. It's a nice little handgun. Around here...any carbonated drink is called a "coke"..... [/quote] You must be in the South....

Re: Misfires with Silver Bear

I have shot about seventy rounds of Silver Bear. No failures to feed, extract or fire. The cases a bit sooty but so far I don't know what that means.

Please be very careful about removing the Safety. The safety detent will "pop out" and is not easy to locate.

Nice Golani. That's one with the Israeli parts and US barrel models, huh?

Heavy but shoots great.

Re: Thought it was a "Makarov".

P-64. One mag, no box. The store called it a "Makarov". I'm gonna bug 'em about that because it's no more a Makarov than a Tantal is a Kalashnikov. Nice pistol just the same. Gene Eh, a tantal is much more of a kalashnikov than a p-64 is a makarov. The P-64 and makarov don't share a singl...

Re: What were they thinking?

An officer's pistol was intended to shoot deserting or unruly soldiers. So it had to be close quarter. A smart officer carries a common rifle so that they do not stand out to a sniper. I've read that European police practice is to shoot offenders in the legs. Most Europeans do not carry a concealed ...

Re: Hornady Critical Defense Ammo

I think CorBon used to make 9mm makarov ammo, but they discontinued it for some reason. I heard it was some of the best 9x18 defense ammo out there. Midway offers the Glaser round and two kinds of HPs from Hornady, including CD, in 9x18mm. At the time of this posting the Glaser Saf-T slug and CD we...

Re: Hornady Critical Defense Ammo

I've tried Hornady CD in my P-64. Accuracy was comparable to Silver Bear. No failures to feed. No misfires.

Re: "Loose" Safety

Thank you, Junius! Once I get some quality time in the kitchen - I cook with gas which will anneal/temper that piece fine - I'll use this to get it installed.

Re: "Loose" Safety

1. Took an 8D bright nail. 2. Using a dremel wheel I ground a rounded tip on the end. 3. Cut it off at about 4mm, leaving a small narrow piece to fit into the safety detent spring. I did not bother to heat treat it at this time. I figure I'll get it figured out and put in the permanent heat treated ...

Second trip to the range

2nd trip to the range. Replaced the recoil spring with a Wolf 22 pounder. Replaced the firing pin spring with the accompanying spring. Typical of me I didn't read the directions and lost the safety detent. It went sailing to who knows where. I made a new one out of an 8 D bright nail using a dremel ...

Re: Sometimes I just love "experts"/authority figures.

Most handguns aren't serious weapons. They're what you carry when you can't have a rifle or shotgun. According to the FBI, more people have been killed by a .22 bullet. Ask a large city hospital ER doctor/nurse about their treatment of a GSW victim with a .22 bullet lodged SOMEWHERE inside him. IMH...

Re: Sometimes I just love "experts"/authority figures.

Several years ago I bought a T-shirt from Makarov.com, with a picture of a PM, and the words "9mm Makarov: KGB tested and approved." in a font that looks vaguely Cyrillic. It's dark humor, certainly, given how many innocent people got 9x18's to the back of the head courtesy of the KGB. A ...

Thanks, guys! I was going to use an old drill bit for this caper since it's already hardened. Do appreciate the dimensions from saands.
