Re: What did you carry today?
Mostly a well used (about 4k rounds through it so far) LC9, but also in the afternoon when doing some chainsawing in the woods, a CA Bulldog .44 (an early Bridgeport variant).

Re: A poll of sorts...
It is the back up pistol I wish I had 30 years ago as an alternative to the Jennings, Bauers, and Berreta 35s. :) If I find a fountain of youth so I can go around again, this time I will be better armed. Ah heck, I have to admit, if I went around again my Ruger LC9S would be my first choice, but sti...

Re: Barrel press for P64
I would imagine if someone in the US made a noise suppressor (silencer) for the Makarov diameter, and a threaded barrel say about 3/4" longer than stock was available, a modified P64 would be an interesting little pistol.

There was a P64 trigger guard for sale on Ebay this am. Sorry, I didn't get the price.

Re: Don't change the springs.
I carry my Taurus 738 with a loaded chamber, and I carried my SCCY cpx2 with a loaded chamber, and neither of those even has an external safety. They are intended to be carried with one in the chamber and no safety. So carrying my P64 with one in the chamber and safety off is the same thing. There ...

Re: Don't go too light on your Wolff Spring
From gun to gun we approach variables such as magazine release fit, tightness of the pin, etc. All of which impact on a prediction of will this gun or that gun drop the magazine if we use a 17 pound spring. In the above video we clearly see that for THAT gun, 17 pounds is too light for combat use. T...

Re: Don't change the springs.
Carrying loaded and off-safety is discouraged but it's actually not a safety - it's a "decocker'. So, you can load one in the chamber, decock and put in a full mag or just leave the mag you loaded from in place. That can give you 6+1 and the gun is decocked (point it downrange to be sure!). Li...

Re: Increased magazine capacity
Having more than just one or two OEM magazines for my multiple P64s I examined them and determined there was more than one design of follower. Some are rather short and there simply is nothing to remove. Therefore if you want a 7 shot pistol the best solution is NOT trimming your magazine spring, bu...

Don't go too light on your Wolff Spring
I tested the Wolff 17 pound spring set. Yes, it reduced the single action pull (as well as the double) to about 2 3/4 pounds. I find that too light for safe usage. Hair triggers can cause unintentional discharges in a fight. A second annoying feature of the too light spring is that under recoil it d...

Re: Wolf Springs
It becomes a major issue if the spring is too light. Your magazine can (will) fall out under recoil. See my post in this section 'don't go too light on the Wolff' accompanied by a video showing the problem.

Re: M1916 Spanish Mauser,Cal. .308 Win
I got one of those back in the 80s. Good brush carbine. I discarded the factory stock and acraglas bedded it into one of the 30 Sporter stocks Century was selling back then. I shortened that a little and added a rubber recoil reducer butt pad. Fitted a sling with quick detach swivels but it doesn't ...

Re: Colt 1917 revolver
It was a caliber thing. Pocket positive for the 32s and 22s, Police Positive for the 38s and later Police Positive Special for the .38 Specials. Of course some .38 Specials left the factory with the older barrel marks until the older stocks were used up.

Re: Remington R51 Gen 2
I have got several of the Prohibition era M51s and one of the 2nd generation R51s. I find my R51 to be a POS and have put 3 different videos up on YouTube showing exactly why. The more I shot it, the more kinds of malfunctions I experienced. Dropped magazines, double feeds, nose down rounds, stove p...

Re: Double Action. Why?
Noting also some of the last month of production WW2 products from Walther and Mauser had equally horrid trigger pulls.

Re: Double Action. Why?
I think the trigger pull issue is directly related to the past experience of the shooter. If you grew up on DA revolvers and learned young how to cope with Colt 1878/1902s or RG revolvers the long and stacking DA pull of the P64 is virtually a non-issue. If however all you know is SA semi-autos like...
