Casting bullets

+1 to Norm on that. ( . . . Not that he needs a second from me, since he knows what he is talking about.) It's the load that matters, not just the bullet weight. Send a heavier bullet at the same speed as a lighter bullet, and it involves more energy and higher pressures. Adjust the load to what is ...

Casting bullets

Just out of curiosity, does anyone here cast bullets for their p-64? I've been hand loading mine for several years now, and I just got set up in bullet casting. I've got the LEE 9x18 mold and dropped a few test bullets from it while I was casting for my 45acp. Kind of looking forward to loading thos...

break in period

Greetings, gents. Been some time since I have posted, mostly because I haven't had a lot to say. My p-64 and I have settled in to a nice, long-term relationship. The more I shoot it, the better it seems to function. I suspect that part of the reason the Makarovs got such a reputation for reliability...

One in the tube?

I feel very comfortable with one in the tube on a p-64. (that, of course, with the understanding that it is still a pistol with a chambered live round.) In my mind, the safety is redundant, with the hammer positively blocked, and also decocked. I can't think of how it could discharge if it was holst...

Range Report P64 / CZ82

Carguy, I'm intrigued by your report on the cz-82 . . . I just talked my brother into buying one. Sounds like I'd better find a way to keep him from ever shooting it, or he will never sell it to me! Don't judge the p-64 to hastily, though. As the guys say--and as you know--it will smooth out quite a...

Off Topic ( SKS)

As long as we are off topic on the sks, I have a question. I got an old yugo from my brother--by old I mean heavily used--that did not cycle well. It will occasionally eject a round, but mostly it doesn't even have enough "oomph" to stovepipe. I thought it might be the ejector, but it does...

Shot my P-64 for the first time today..

My brother just goat a cz-82, and I am very curious to try it. It seems to have a reputation for being accurate . . .

(Not that it would ever change the love I have for my p-64, which I have affectionately named, "mini-me.")

Does anyone else's p-64....

Glad to hear, Garry. Just stopped out to the range this morning to tinker with a couple of rifle loads, and as I had a clean target up when I was done, I thought I would try my p-64 at 25 yards. 21 rounds all within an eight inch circle, more than half in the four inch center circle. That was from a...

Does anyone else's p-64....

115grfmj, Mine used to bite me and beat me bad . . . untill I started loading my own. Tone the load down just a touch and it is, quite literally, my favorite gun to shoot. In my opinion, the p-64 alone is reason enough to invest in reloading. But, I begin to repeat myself . . . God bless and straigh...

QUESTION FOR p-64 only

Norm, Not sure what you are getting at, and I want to make sure that I do because you have some great points. My own experience: I load five at the range, and carry with seven. I usually shoot the current seven at a range outing just to verify operation and rotate the ammo, and I have never had a ja...

ANOTHER LETTER FROM CONGRESS MAN

Is this true?

Sorry to say, but my first reaction was to think that it was a scam or a joke. It has been some time since I have heard of a US court decision that seems to have any respect for the constitution.

If so, it is certainly encouraging.

GBASS,
