Interesting ammo post ...
I contributed to that thread, and I don't see what part of it reads unpleasantly. There was some back and forth with all sides agreeing to disagree. Nobody went away miffed; I know the posters and they continue to post opinions and information. There is also some good info on the thread.

Cheap Ammo and Problems and other general ??'s
I like the deals at KY Imports (http://kyimports.com), but you pretty much have to call them because their web page is usually way out of date. They have the old LVE green box at a real decent price. Everybody who shoots 9x18 should have some of that in their collection.

Cheap Ammo and Problems and other general ??'s
And he can't spell. It's Jing An, not JinAn. He was calling it "Mokarov" ammo for a while and you couldn't bring it up on a search for "Makarov". I wrote him an email a couple weeks ago and he changed the spelling. He has a ton of this stuff and has been selling it for ever. I wr...

I like the Chinese ammo. Jing An (blue box) or Norinco (green box) it's the same stuff. The seller on Gunbroker is in VA - good guy, prompt shipper. The boxes are old and the Chinese made cheap carboard/paper boxes anyway so they always come a little roughed up but the ammo is fine.

Found P-64
Well abwehr, you made me look. Gunbroker has 4 VZOR-70s for sale. New ones up to $350 that are "modernized" and an old one in good shape for $135 (plus all the shipping and transfer fees you can handle). Sounds like you got a good deal, and the pistol looks interesting. Someday I'll ventur...

[q] 45g 9x18 ammo
Yes, as I wrote I shot through a Makarov. The P-64 gives slighlty lower velocities. I don't see why the P-64 would have any problem handling this ammunition; it produced extremely low recoil in a Makarov.. I paid some $2 per round, so I'd be more worried about your pocketbook than your pistol. Note ...

[q] 45g 9x18 ammo
Hello Worker: I did order some of the RBCD rounds and tested them through a makarov. I pulled and weighed one bullet, measured the overall length of the rounds, and ran 5 through a chronograph (only 5 because they are so expensive): RBCD 45-gr TFSP (Total Fragmenting Soft Point) (5 rounds tested) Ma...

Well, it's the Northwest's loss. I don't think I've ever seen a P-64 in a local shop up here either abwehr - do you see them down south?

Spoke to 2 military armorers
I think the 71-grain was a misprint in the manual. I've never seen a 9x18 bullet from Europe less than 92-grains, and I have Hungarian, Polish, East German, Russian commercial and military, Italian, Slovakian, and Czechoslovakian 9x18 ammunition, as well as Chinese. The standard weight 9x18 bullet i...

Limited Ammo Selection / Q?
I think I remember the thread where someone said they had feed problems with Federal American Eagle. I found that pretty incredible, as that ammo is within normal Overall Length specs for 9x18 and is consistently made. I think that person hadn't broke in his feed ramp yet and would have had problems...

Maybe ammo will be cheaper on September 18 - that's the date of the sale at Makarov.com.
