Re: field stripping a bear
Makarovs are generally painfully easy to strip and reassemble. Sometimes the trigger guard bounces back up while a Mak is dissassembled and it will make reassembly MUCH harder. Just make sure the TG is pulled back down and slightly to the side again and it should reassemble much easier.

Re: P-64 as a firearm for SHTF/WROL/TEOTWAWKI/zombie apocaly
As much as I like the idea of supporting local Ohio business, I can't in good conscience endorse Hi-Point C9's as good weapons. I've seen too many people report jamming problems after even mildly extended use. I'd recommend a taurus model 709 slim for 9x19 compact use before anything hi point.

Re: Silver Bear ammo?
Magnet trick isn't always reliable. And not all steel core ammo is truly "Armor Piercing". the 7.62x39 Steel Core that Norinco sold in the US awhile back wasn't truly armor piercing, although the same sensationalists that call stock SKS's "assault weapons" would have you think so...

Re: First one for me.
I have to agree that what if scenarios played against the possibility of a civil court action do create undue paranoia. But by the same token never underestimate the depth to which lawyers will sink to find their clients loopholes. Give the enemy no ammunition if you can help it. Better safe than so...

Re: Chambering a round
Best fix, in my humble opinion ... don't chamber the first round unless trouble has just found you and is coming straight for you, or you're getting ready at the range.

Re: New Topic Maybe?
It's not a misprint. When they were first developed the P-64 shared ammo with a Polish made machine gun. They just produced the same 71 grain round for both. The primers were hard because they had to be for the MG. That's why the hard stock springs. Surplus 71 grain ammo isn't available anywhere any...

Re: "Helpful" advice.
When someone accuses you of owning a "Commie Gun" gently remind them that there is no communist flag flying over your home. And the fact that we in the capitalist free world are now holding our former communist antagonists' firearms is the ultimate in irony and is testament to just how sup...

Re: Odd colored part
I've seen some extractors that are red (plum) like that on some standard design Makarovs as well, at least 3 Bulgarians at a local gun show recently.
