P-64 jams?

Norm, you have more patience than most! I'm glad you were able to help out Dan and that is was a real deal. I think he may just have been convinced it was a mag issue by others. Honestly, mag issues are common for other surplus pistols like my P-1 or my CZ-70. It just sounded so odd to have 2 folks ...

P-64 jams?

Daniel truly has a problem. I believe he posted on Gunboards, but everyone there had him convinced that it was a mag issue. I think I recognize his comments from there in the military pistol section. I recommended he check things out here! I have never heard of any original mags causing this problem...

Saands, I think you are correct. I'm sure I had the spring fully compressed. I didn't compare the wire diameter of the 22# and the 20# recoil springs, but I did compare the 22# to the original spring. The wire diameter of the 22# is much larger, maybe 2x... I should pull out my caliper. Anyhow, I'm ...

Recoil and Trigger Spring OVERKILL

Did the 17# feel too light? I may get one of those since the 3 pack didn't have a 17#. Seems like I got too many unneeded springs!

The 16# Walther was light, in fact I always warned others that shot my P64 to watch it closely..... I like the feel of the 18#, but I'd try the 17# on recommendation.

Thanks for the idea of the table edge! I had tried that first since my work bench is wooden. I did put a cloth down to make sure I didn't scratch the muzzle finish, no luck though. The idea of finishing the spring ends might work! I noted that the spring ends are not finished/ground. They are a bit ...

Thanks for the input on this!

Is the P64 recoil spring ok to flip? It is tapered on one end to fit tight on the barrel near where the barrel seats.

Is flipping it just a test or is it ok to fire it that way?

Thanks for the tip!

Hey all, I wanted to try out my new springs today. However, I could not get the 22# spring installed. I have always had to work at getting the standard spring in, but the 22 just wouldn't go. Has anyone had this experience? I decided to put my P64 in a homemade softjaw rig to get the spring in. I ha...

GF, If you had one of these before, you probably already know that euro ammo like S&B, geco, Prvi partizan, etc is best to use due to the difference from US/North American 32 auto extractor gap size. I will look at my favorites to see if there are good deals! The cheapest FMJ euro style 32acp I ...

P-64 in news article

I don't support road rage, obviously, however something doesn't sound right about a truck driver getting out of his vehicle. I wouldn't point a loaded firearm at someone unless it was life threatening. I would never get out of my vehicle and confront a driver for a maneuver, no matter how bad the dr...

Hey all, got my springs from Wolff already. I'm hoping to test them out this weekend. Anyhow, I got the 3 spring kit for the hammer and both recoil springs. You can see them in the picture. However, I'm not sure what the extra spring is in the recoil spring back. It is the approximate size of a hamm...

I will take the exercise comment on board! Once I get the Wolff springs in I will let you know if the felt recoil changes. I believe that stronger springs reduce recoil, but in practice, my Bulgarian Mak has not decreased as much as I thought and I recently went from a 19# to a 21#. You may have a p...

GR, I have my springs on the way. I have the 16# walther spring now, so I ordered the cal kit for that. I read that the 18-20 hammer spring cal kit springs are not the same as the wather ones of the same ratings. I was going to wait and see, but figured I'd just get the 3 in one kit with a new recoi...

Nbender, you are right, I did. I guess I just never figured anyone would fire a pistol they hadn't already deep cleaned, gotten the cosmo off of. Not something I would do 1st try, but the quality the pistol arrives in can fool someone, someone less experienced with milsurp. How many threads have you...

Glad you like your P64. Mine looked like new when I got it out of the box too. However, they are not new out of the box and you probably noticed that there's not a lot of light oil on the pistol. The list to get you P64 perfect may be longer than expected. 1st and this is an absolute must, you must ...
