Favorite 9x18mm Mak ammo...

Mine? 95gr Hornady XTPHP over Vihtavuori N350 in a starline case ... out of the P64, thats 1200 fps and just over 300 ft-lbs at 5 yds ;D For plinking I like what's cheap, although I also do some of the above handloads with a third less powder that go 675 fps and are nice and mild in the recoil depar...

Stuck Slide!

If things were documented THAT well, then each of us wouldn't learn anything at all when we were tinkering ;)

Glad it went back together.

ps ... I'd prefer that this was just "the mainspring mod" ;D

Yes ... dog anchored like an oil rig ... I just expected an exit.

Anyone tried the recoil spring fix?

Yep ... get the stiffest one the sell for that one ... I think that a "real" extra power spring if designed for the P64 will be even stiffer, but the 25# one is a step in the right direction.

Ammo info - super hot stuff for SMGs

I recently tested a 3.1" barreled 9x19 pistol and was amazed to see that my XTP handloads out of the P64 had more energy than any of the factory 9x19 loads that I tested and I tested several of them. IMHO, the trick with these blowback guns would be to somehow weight the slide more (like the hi...

JHP Ammo & Glasers

I've been loading my own 95 gr XTPHP ammo with VihtaVuori N350 powder and running the velocities at around 1175fps (290 ft-lbs). It is a little warm, but I only use new brass and don't bother to pick it up. This is not my plinking ammo, but I've shot enough to know that it is reliable in the P64. Wh...

Anyone tried the recoil spring fix?

I agree with BLSNELLING's complaints about the gritty feel with the replaced recoil spring ... but firing it made me a believer. The bite is tamed a bit. That being said, if Wolff makes us a REAL one, we'll be in great shape! Saands ps ... when I commented above about recognizing the quotes above, I...

P-64 and Walther Grips

Can't say about the PPK for sure as I've never seen one personally ... but the PP's grips CLEARLY won't work as the PP (and I imagine the PPK would be similar in this respect) has a steel backstrap that means that the grips are just side panels ... kinda like a 1911.

Safety dropping on while shooting

I don't check this forum every day :P ... but I'm not ignoring the questions ;) The P64 safety has a plunger that looks like a drill bit without the flutes. It is about 1/4" long (maybe a little shorter) and probably a 1/16" diameter with a sharp tapered cone on the end that engages the de...

So what else are people shooting?

I too struggled with the just pick one ... When it absolutely needs to be hit hard: 460 Rowland (1060 ft-lb) When it absolutely scares me in the middle of the night: 10mm (15+1 of 700 ft-lb GoldDots) When it absolutely needs to be hit rapidly: 45acp (nothing like a 1911 for double-tapping) When it a...

Give a warm welcome to saands

I've been busy, and haven't been stopping in too frequently, and to be honest was floored to see this thread :o As I've mentioned on other posts, I'm always willing to share what I've learned and why I think about something the way I do. That being said, I'm no expert, just another tinkerer (with so...

Did I almost blow my gun up?

I'm using Silver Bear, but the 92gr FMJ's and they are fine and don't produce any of the bulge you see there. That being said, when I refer to the hotter loads that have caused my mag to eject after the last round, that is what the cases look like. If you had installed the 16# PP mainspring before u...

Trigger polishing?(To Saands and any others)

I agree that getting rid of the "hitch" at the end of the DA travel. Unfortunately, I haven't looked at that part of the design yet ::) but it sounds like something that I would be interested in, so maybe if I get some time, I'll investigate. My philosopy is to change things that I underst...

Anyone tried the recoil spring fix?

I have put the cutdown P7 recoil spring on 4 P64s now, and it is a stiffer spring. I am convinced that it is an improvement, but I'm not an independent source of info from ozarker as I recognize the last 3 quotes as mine. One thing that I will note about this mod is that you have to make sure that t...
