IJ70 REAR SIGHT

I put an aftermarket fixed sight on my IJ70. Nice upgrade, but the screw that holds the sight to the slid keeps backing out. I've heard that blue Loctite works, but people sometimes use too much and it drips down into the innards and causes all manner of bad things to happen. I still like the idea a...

Re: MUCH MO BETTA

It is a tough life, but somehow I still manage to trudge onward... The spring kit made a huge improvement. The trigger pull is still stout, but it's manageable. The slide bite is still gruesome. I've never experienced anything like it. Not sure if it's just the slide, or if it's an interplay between...

MUCH MO BETTA

Just installed a Wolff 19 pound hammer spring and a 20 pound recoil spring, which arrived yesterday. Watched the video that Scootch did on it, read the threads here, and just did it. Required tools: an inexpensive table top vice from Lowes, a couple of pieces of duct tape to serve as a pad for the v...

Re: WOLFF SPRING PACKS

O.K., lemme see if I got this right: each end of the recoil spring needs to be sanded across the top, kindasorta at an angle so that each end appears flat, like the flat top I used to have in the Navy.

Re: WOLFF SPRING PACKS

Good deal. Will a good old fashioned file work to grind the ends?

Re: 3rd Obama-Ammo-Apocalypse?

This is fixin' to come up again if Clinton get's elected, and I saw the subject broached on another forum recently. During the last ammo shortage, I found that Obama wasn't the problem at all - the problem was ammo scalpers. These guys have all the time and money in the world (apparently), and wait ...

WOLFF SPRING PACKS

Hey Guys, I bought one of the hammer spring packs, and one of the recoil spring packs. I noticed that the hammer spring pack has a 19 pound spring, but there is not a corresponding recoil spring in the recoil spring pack. If I opted to go with the 19 pound hammer spring, what recoil spring pairs bes...

Think I'll give that a try. Does bronze wool come in any particular grit?

Re: ThOUGHT ABOUT MY "NEW" P64 SOME...

Already ordered the Marschal grips, but the Ver.05 were tempting. I'm kind of looking forward to playing with the spring weights. This is probably gonna be the only "custom" gun I'll ever own, and I'm doing all the customizing so this is gonna be fun. Getting input from actual P-64 owners ...

Re: ThOUGHT ABOUT MY "NEW" P64 SOME...

Unless you are seeing gouges in the primers after firing I would not change the FP spring. Nope. Nice solid strikes to the primers. I'll take your advice and not jack with the FP spring. The finish on this P-64 is really good, considering that it was made in 1967. The innards are really clean. It's...

Re: ThOUGHT ABOUT MY "NEW" P64 SOME...

So, is there a video out there that shoes how to replace the firing pin spring. Or is it generally a better idea to let a trained gunsmith do the whole danged thing?

Re: ThOUGHT ABOUT MY "NEW" P64 SOME...

Much thanks for the good info, Ketchman. I can't wait to get it up and running smoothly. Seems kinda counterintuitive to put in almost as much money in upgrading a gun as I paid for the gun itself, but when I'm done I figure I'll have a really sweet carry gun. If nothing else, I can say I have a swe...

Re: ThOUGHT ABOUT MY "NEW" P64 SOME...

Thanks for the info. 20 pound spring combo, eh? I saw a video my Mrgunsngear, he went with a 20 pound set-up, and Scootch in a another video went with an 18 pound set up. You went with a 20 pound set-up. Looks like I'm gonna have to get the combo pack and experiment. I've only heard unfavorable thin...

ThOUGHT ABOUT MY "NEW" P64 SOME...

I took my “new” P-64 out on the range on Wednesday, and despite its rough edges I think it’s an awesome little gun. A regular little tack driver when I took the time to really work those puny sights, and more than enough combat accuracy when I thought of it like a snubby and just used a point and sh...
