Re: sight modifications

2old2run, Sorry no response till now, been working out of state. I agree with you on the intended purpose of a handgun is for right the f+&%@* now and short range and that Fairbairn was no chump. That would be like saying the 1911 pistol is a latecomer, a bit off the mark as it were. As far as m...

Re: sight modifications

2old2run, Checked out your gun porn last night, nice stable, I want the S&W's. They remind me of the model 10 with special heavy 6" barrel I had to carry doing armed courier work. You have a well thought out bunch. I don't follow the "point and shoot" thought train, just doesn't s...

Re: sight modifications

Y'know 2old2run, sounds as if you already have the plan in mind about how to do the gold bead sight well thought out, why haven't you done that on your Bodyguard or Hi-Power. I bet it would look really good and work great. Also sounds as if you have the tools, skill and materials readily available. ...

Re: sight modifications

2old2run That stable of yours is a very good one and I too like the Browning very much, except me being the idiot I am want one from the WWII era, which of course will cost me seriously. And I must say your jewelry is most impressive, excellent skill exhibited there. And it reminds me very much of C...

Re: Modification to tame effects of recoil?

Try holding the pistol as if your are shooting, then bring it up so eye level is at the bottom of the slide so you can see if the web of your hand sticks up high enough to get nailed by the slide.

Re: sight modifications

2old2run, I have one of those same tasco's, had it on my Marlin 336 in .35 Remington for deer hunting in the cedar swamps in Michigan when I lived there, good sight for the price and worked great there. But now I live in Wyoming and it doesn't get used much cause of the difference in hunting terrain...

Re: Modification to tame effects of recoil?

2old2run, Are the cuts in the web of your hand? Could it possibly be from the slide and not the frame? I have noticed that sometimes my grip can get a bit high and it places the web of my hand awfully close to the bottom of the slide, which will slice the hell out of you when cycling during firing. ...

Re: sight modifications

2old2run, thanks for the kind words. I am still very happy with the setup and have had no second thoughts about how I could have done it better. Which for me is almost unheard of. I like the red dot sights a lot, but again there is that thing of electronics failing at the wrong time. There is a solu...

Re: reassembly help!!

Are you talking about the metal piece that holds the slide open on an empty magazine? If so, I frequently have to push it back into it's place and align it with the axis of the pistol before I can get my slide to go back on. I believe it is fairly normal as I had the same problem with a PA-63 which ...

Re: Ballistic Gelatin

hey juniustaylor, I wasn't trying to bring you down man, just letting you know what little I do know about the stuff. I can tell you that mixed 8 times normal ratio agar to water, and I think I failed to clarify that and thank you daven for doing that for me, it would be a very credible substitute f...

Re: Ballistic Gelatin

Agar-agar is the gelatin that is used for laboratory tests in petri dishes and that sort of thing to grow molds, spores etc. on. I have some experience with the stuff and it can be mixed up to a very credible denseness at about 8 parts gelatin to 1 part water. ut then again regular gelatin does as w...
