New P64 owner
Welcome aboard!! Nice set-up. For what its worth, it took two fingers to shoot mine in DA. After talking to papabear & Norm, I really cleaned the h*ll out of it with breakfree and carb cleaner. I thought I had cleaned it the first time, but this time I let it soak. When I finished, the DA is lik...

Thanks. I used the airbrush kit, I dont think I could have gotten an uneven coat if I tried. So far I'm happy with the results. Not sure if its self lubricating or not although it feels like it will hold oil. Did you bake it in the oven? My gunsmith did some type of coat that he baked for a while o...

Fobus paddle holster
I have an uncle mike's rig that is real comfy. I would not want to do a lot of walking with any ankle rig, but they do hide the P-64 well. Uncle Mikes has a strap that goes over the top of the calf, that helps alot. I still like the forbus because in Tennessee you can't carry were they serve alcoh/d...

I've got the worst DA trigger known to man.
I had the same problem with mine. So I got use to cocking it. Got back from the range and talked to Norm about another matter. I thought I had really cleaned the gun, but I REALLY cleaned the insides with break free. When I got it all back together...the double action is great, must had had some gun...

Punishing recoil?
I have been carrying the S&W model 60 357mag & it has a lot more bite than a P-64. I think the Kel-Tec 3AT kicks harder. I love the P-64 and its my go anywere gun now.

Resin Grips
I know what you mean. I went by the dealers today to see if he had gotten in my second P-64, and he had two (both 1974). One had a hard DA, but the second one was smooth, about like an old S&W revolver. I took them both, plus they had the flat grips.

Replacing the mainspring for lighter DA pull
Well I went by to check on the P-64 at my dealers, he had gotten in two 1974s with flat grips. I grabbed them both. (one was missing the grip nut, but thats an easy fix.)

If you pratice enough, you will use your sights to a degree in a gunfight. If you only have a white dot on the front sight, and put that at center mass, you will hit the BG. Any edge you can get will put you over the curve. During a SD time, you will need all of your training & mindset to come n...

Got a P-64 yesterday
Please don't let the heavy DA trigger bother you. You can change springs or leave it and cock it. With pratice, you can get use to the trigger, and its only for the first shot. Best of luck and be careful were you have to shoot.

P-64 changes
The one thing I like about this forum is no one gets flamed if he changes anything on his P-64 or if he leaves it alone. We are all differant & everyone wants to have something just a lil diff than the next guy. If you are lucky enough to own a P-64, enjoy it. I changed the grips on mine, but I ...
