Re: P64 design
I think the dimensions of the pistol are perfect. It fits me like a glove, and I like the weight, too. It doesn't have the excellent sight of my PPK/S or my S&W M&P, but I'm developing an instinctual aim with it. I loaded two mags with five rounds each this morning and put all ten inside a 7...

Re: First Date with my P64
Took my P64 back to the range this morning, this time with Silver Bear ammo. It fed and fired and ejected perfectly from the first round to the last, and was highly accurate. Glad that I bought 500 rounds. :D Brought along my new PPK/S and it shot perfectly until the ejector broke. :x Brought my new...

Re: Were we just unlucky?
Sorry to hear about your plight. I think you got a lemon. I ordered one from AIM recently, figured I'd get one before they were all gone. Was afraid I'd get a bottom-of-the-barrel gun, but it was almost perfect. In addition, it's built like a tank and is extremely accurate. It's not as pretty as my ...

Re: My Mak Brass Got Glocked
PPU is the only brand of 9x18 ammo I've seen around here. Maybe I'll mailorder some Wolf ammo or something else. I have some PPU brass in .223 that I've reloaded and shot multiple times. It seems to be good quality brass. Unlike .223 Remington or FC brass, for example. I'm not too concerned about it...

Re: First Date with my P64
Sorry, should checked my PM's before that last bit, that was someone else. Good idea nevertheless. I took a #000 brush and some flat white paint and painted a line on the front sight of my P.38 and it improved the sight picture a lot, so I'll do the same with the P-64. As far as the FTE's, i...

Re: Anyone Ride a Motorcycle?
I started riding in 1972 at age 16 with a 45 c.i. flathead Harley. Then had a BSA 441 Victor Special that was a lot of fun until it blew up. Then rode a Honda CB450 because it was free (I won it in a bet). Then bought my first new bike, a 1982 Kawasaki GPz750. Gave the CB450 back to the guy that I o...

First Date with my P64
I've had it for about a month and was finally able to take it to the range and try it out. It handled really well and had an excellent trigger. It shot exactly to point-of-aim when I was able to acquire that tiny, short front sight. I was shooting at 25 ft. on 7" and 8" targets that I prin...

Re: P64's at J&G
Are the P64 at AIMs coming from different sources? I got this same one from them, made in 76 and the finish is very nice. I recently got my P64 from AIM, also a '76. I was late getting on board with this, so I was afraid I would get a bottom-of-the-barrel gun. It was in excellent shape but had lots...

My Mak Brass Got Glocked
Shot my P-64 for the first time time tonight and really enjoyed it. Tried to scrounge up my brass for reloading, but the pistol was ejecting up and forward and into the shooting lane where it cannot be retrieved. So I backed up about 3-4 feet so that the brass would land right in front of me. I mana...

Give us a range report. You did eat your Wheaties too I see. Welcome to the Brotherhood and yes, range reports are required here. I'm a member of an outdoor pistol/rifle range but lately it's been a little cold... So I planned to go to one of the local indoor ranges, but now I'm going to ...

Re: 99% of the time the reason these guns don't work
Never thought of lighter fluid, good tip. I used Keroseane on cosmo, maybe it's the same thing. They are both from the same family of petroleum distillates. Naptha (AKA lighter fluid) can be bought in large-size containers in any hardware store alongside kerosene and other solvents. Naptha is a lig...

Re: Cannot Remove Slide
Turned off my laptop, got my lazy butt out of bed at lunchtime, fixed some breakfast, then went back to bed for a 2-hour nap (I'm in vacation mode). Then ran out to the freezing cold garage and grabbed my Mechanix gloves, which have little rubber dots on the fingertips for maximum grip. Grabbed the ...

Re: Cannot Remove Slide
Yes, the trigger guard is moved to the side, just like on my old PPK/S.
I'll put on a pair of gloves for better traction and yank that slide back as hard as I can (as soon as I drag my butt out of bed).

Cannot Remove Slide
I just received a P-64 that I ordered from AIM a few days ago. Since they are nearing the bottom of the barrel, I was afraid I'd get a beater. Instead I got one that has an absolutely cherry finish. It's dated 1976. Only problem is that I cannot get the slide off. I remove the mag, put it on safe (w...
