Welcome to The Brotherhood Hutch.
1st suggestion is to swap out your springs. Even if you only replace with stock weights do it. Weak / bad springs seem to be a common malady for these old workhorses.
And Hornady is my reccomendation for carry.

Re: P64 noob here. few issues
Some of us believe that the problem with the mag dropping may be because of the way the recoil impulse acts on the gun and changing the recoil spring changes that impulse. This is why I asked if the guns worked properly stock. By changing 2 springs in each you have added 2 different variables to the...

Re: P64 noob here. few issues
Too bad about shooting them with the stock springs. And as for the mag dropping it is known to possibly happen when changing to a lighter hammer spring because that spring is not only used for the hammer but it doubles as the magazine catch spring. I would swap the hammer springs between the 2 and s...

Re: P64 noob here. few issues
Bellwilliam, Welcome aboard. With the knowledge distributed among the members here we should be able to figure this out. 1st question. Did you fire these before swapping out the springs? If so did you have any issues at all? If not, can you put the original springs back in and try again? We need a s...

What a concept!!! Genius! This is why I do not run the world! Or for that matter anything.
Tech1 have you ever thought about running for public office and fixing the worlds problems??

Re: V.04 grip with grip screw
Damn. No drill press in my tool arsenal. And I am not sure my aim with a hand drill would hit it straight through.

Re: Grips v.04 range test
Tech1,
Was the felt / perceived recoil less using these grips? I have not been to the range with them on yet but I bet it feels less because these grips are a bit wider at the web of the hand.

Re: What ammo do you carry EDC
Oh I love the 9x18. Very cool round. better than the .380 in the same package. And I think Comm Block weapons are just cool. And currently have 2 pistols chambered for it, CZ-82 and P-64, Used to have a PA-63 but foolishly sold it (to finance the P-64 at least) and wish I had not sold it. And I cann...

Chesternted,
And for anyone else interested, here is a decent test of the Silver Bear ammo.
https://youtu.be/ScHzHz3dItI
This guy tests a lot of different ammo and does it pretty well I think.

Re: What ammo do you carry EDC
Chesternted, the more I read my last post on this topic the more it sounds snippy and targeted at you and I want to apologize for thatas I did not intend to be anything other than questioning when it comes to a preference for brass cased ammo over steel cased ammo in these guns. I have heard many ot...

Re: What ammo do you carry EDC
Why? these things were designed with steel cased ammo in mind. It is what they were designed for. I have never had a problem with steel cased ammo. Ever. period. Now if we were talking an old lever action gun or early military surplus collectible that may have softer steel then I would be very hesit...

Re: What ammo do you carry EDC
Silver Bear HP for practice AND carry if out of Hornady critical Defense of XTP for EDC. Silver Bear HP is not a bad round if you check out some of the testing done on it on You Tube. I have tested it on water jugs and was impressed enough where I am not worried about using it for carry.
